In his younger days, Ansel Adams used a hole in the blinds as light source

With all the effort to make it light tight... No way! :D Some LED light and my mobile phone were enough even not optimal.

Yesterday I was able to do the print after overcoming a countless list of problems in my new darkroom (Jobo not working, timer keys sticked, wrong paper, easel blades misaligned,...), I started at 11:00 and finished at 21:00, with a break for lunch between 15:00-16:45. What a day! My only confort is the hope that I set everything right to work in peace in future printing sessions.

Print drop today in the mail.

Hi Buzz-01,

It's not the Dutch postal service that took so long. I got them almost right away but didn't feel I could write until I had mine out the door...

Thanks for the infrared pictures, it's rare to see them these days since the film isn't easy to handle.

The Scottish Highlander is a strikingly handsome beast. Looks like a great place to explore.

A nice surprise on my doorstep, an envelope from Bill Burk! :D
It was delivered about a week ago, but found it just yesterday when we returned from our summer holiday.
Bill has sent me two nice prints.

One of the climbing area / campground called Vedauwoo. It shows the large rocks sticking out above the trees.
As a sports climber myself, I can really appreciate this photo!
The print was used to demonstrate grain focus, funny thing is I saw your topic and video here on Photrio, not knowing you were about to send me this print...

The other print is an older print of the Tiki Room waiting area in Disneyland, Anaheim, CA. A beautiful print with nice play of light and sharpness. I really like (and wonder:angel:) how you made the border on this print! It suits the subject very well and really adds to the final result.

I received 2 nice prints from tezzasmall (last week actually). One of a pretty garden ornament with a flat fish which seems to be eating the plants growing on the ornament! Second one a lith print of a park scene, I really like the high contrast in the trees but with good tonality in other areas. Like the color too, my lith prints often come out a little bit too orangey for my taste, was this an earlier print in the session? Thanks, Terry!

I fetched two nice prints from @gijsbert - one is a nicely composed and printed view of Zabriskie Point in Death Valley, exhibiting a very nice range of tonality - it's a surreal landscape (looks like a place that's impossible to reach). The second print is an amazingly toned photo fo a rock formation in Antelope Canyon, Arizona, called the Chief (I also received a detailed note). This print has an even wider range of tones - from black to white, really - and must have been quite a challenge to enlarge. (I imagine I would waste a lot of paper trying to get it the way I wanted it). It's a beautiful photo. Thank-you very much!

I received Juan Carlos' @halfaman print in the mail earlier. It's a view of a small waterfall near Bilbao where he lives and taken in 2020 during the pandemic. In post #27, he mentioned his 10-hour printing marathon. Wow! Thank you.

All but 2 sent, not bad.

I just received a big beautiful print from ProfessorC. A nice sepia study of a tree, maybe two trees, near his home. According to the prof, lots of new tricks and techniques new to him. And an 11 inch square print to boot. All very successfully done.

Thanks Clinton!

Sorry for being so late, I have finally managed to send my print!
I hope the snail mail is not delayed by Brexit and tezzasmall gets his print quickly.

And received today, Wednesday 17/11/21, so thanks. Only a week from door to door!

Two totally different subjects are in the two prints received. (Is 'two' the new 'one'? I ask as this is becoming the norm, I have found, with myself also sending out two prints quite often, of late.)

The first print is of an abandoned building's front view. The interesting thing about this print, is that it has been given a very slight blue tone to it with 'Moersch Blue' and 'Finisher Blue' being used, which suits the subject well and makes the concrete of the building look cold.

The second print is on glossy RC paper, a surface which I haven't seen for quite a while, but it really works with the subject and makes the print seem sharper and with more contrast. The subject? A zebra taken at Augsburg zoo, where Bernd was testing a Tokina 75 - 400 zoom, which he reports as working well. The lens has helped to fill the frame with the zebra and the stripes are very well caught and are lovely and sharp. A good out of focus background is also been enabled with the lens, which I presume was used at the longer end of the range?

Two more great prints for my collection!

Terry S

P.S. I was a little confused initially, as to whom the prints were from, as you didn't mention your Photrio name, but luckily I noticed my name as being the recipient in this thread. I was also more confused as you mention two BPX rounds, 36 and 37, but no worries, I got there in the end! :D

Sorry for delay in replying.

Yes, it was one of the first in the session, with it being my first time using EasLith with

Fomatone MG Classic 132 Matt 5x7 Inch
paper.

I'm glad you liked them, as they were both darkroom experiments.

Hi guys
I'm still struggling to make a decent print bigger in size than 18x24 or 8x10. For some reason unknown to me I've lost the ability to do it on larger scale, than that mentioned above.
I think I got one finally, hope to send it soon.

Sorry for the mixup.
I finally sent my long overdue assignment from the APLX to you, too. It feels good to have completed this before the end of the year

Oh, I've been tidying up rooms and found an envelope with prints from @spijker. I received it right amid moving to a new apartment and put aside for some more serene times.
Not that such are approaching yet.

Thank you, Menno!
The prints are superb. I love them both. Subject, tones, implementation - top notch.
I think now that was sort of an underlying reason I haven't sent mine yet (no blame intended), which just not meet the highest standard of prints received.

Now that things at home are getting to their places and my full-time (yahoo!) darkroom closet looks more like a dedicated room rather than a storeroom, I hope to send prints soon. I have one right at the moment, but some details of it doesn't satisfy me.
Happy New year, guys!
I do hope to get back to the BPX in the next round.
