Dear photographers,

My tiny pocket computer mixed again all of us. Everybody should have a got message from me with a pair of addresses. The first block contains your own address as given to me. Please, make certain that your own address is correct. PM me as soon as possible if a correction is needed to YOUR address.

The second block contains the address of your partner: You have to send your print(s) to there. Please wait a few days before sending anything to allow time for corrections. Make sure you mark your box with your name and

BPX 35
on it.

If you are unable to complete your assignment, it is understandable - life often gets in a way of our hobbies. However, it would be very helpful if you let me know so that I could change the assignment to somebody else.

If somethings is or seems to be wrong please PM me.

Our timeline:
Print and Send: August and Spetember 2020
Rest and Relaxation: October 2020

Have fun with BPX!

Good evening Uwe @piu58 (and of course the rest this little audience),

I just took delivery of your BPX35 package.

The very classic photograph of the bank building together with the historic and personal description in your nice letter (handwritten lettters are the cherry on the cake for me) evoked a strong memory of a book I read not so long ago. I had to check if that story wasn't situated in Leipzig because your description of the building being a former clothes store with those large playfull stairs could have been take right out of the book. But the book is set in Berlin in the 1930's. I can recommend it to you, it is a really good story written by Ben Elton and is titled Two Brothers. So this photograph is more to me than just a pretty picture. Vielen Dank!

The second photography - again together with you comments on it - has resparked my interest in the Lith printing technique. I had quite a struggle getting my first print done in the previous exchange and was a little frustrated about it. But seeing a new example of how it can be (next to the prints you sent me before) makes me want to give it another go. I will be signing-up for the next ALPX for sure. Your friend Bernd can thank you for that

So, thanks again Uwe. I hope you are doing well.
Keep printing and Stay Safe!

Kind regards,

Bill @BSP

I am always delighted if somebody likes my photographs.

Lith print is not such hard as it seem first. The main thing you need is patience. My prints develop between 15 and 45 Minutes (not seconds). The one you got need 45 minutes. You have to agitate the print all of the time and avoid that some parts of the print are not covered with liquid.
I use Easy Lith developer 12ml + 12ml to make a litre.

Paper is an issue of course. If you cannot use old stock I recommend Fomatone MG. It is rather at the 15 minutes side of developing time

And received Mark.

A lovely composition of a small part of a University campus, with a great bit of light and shadows, which helps to give the print real character.

Unusually printed to the edge of the paper, with no borders, but a full range of tones run throughout it and for Tri-X in 35mm format, the print is grain-less.

And although a relatively simple composition, I find my eyes scanning it constantly, taking in lots of smaller detail throughout.

A lovely print to add to my collection.

Many thanks Mark.

Thanks, Terry, glad you like it. Here's a secret: I didn't print the image to the border. I printed a full frame 35mm image on 8x10 paper, then I trimmed off all the detritus. Don't tell anybody!

And my motto is, don't be constrained by the 8x10 format. If it's longer or taller or square, print it that way!

Cheers,

-- Mark

I totally agree with you Mark. I regularly have to trim the borders of my 35mm prints, even if it is just a little bit.

My offering has been mailed. As a relative newbie to my home darkroom I’m still very much a novice and I’m sure the print reveals as much. That being said, this was a fun thing to be a part of. Now I get to eagerly wait for the print en route to me! Thanks all.

During my vacation I received two beautiful prints from Howard. As some of you know, Howard lives in China. I did not know how difficult travelling for him still is. In fact, travelling is impossible.
In this case it is a good idea looking what treasures can be found at old negatives. Howard did this and printed two images for me from a travel to Bhutan. I like the rose most, because it remind me (as Howard) at the Petit Prince.
