Blank negatives - can Rodinal go from fine to non-working in a week?

The days of Agfa-Rodinal are long gone. The replacement is similar but not the same.

It happened to me once with some Compard R09, I had a bottle (1/2l) for around 2yrs and never had issues, even at the end with lots of crystals and a syrup already tar color. Then I bought a new bottle of the same brand but 125cc version, around 6 months later I got very thin negatives out of it.
