Here is Artpunk's flickr page with photos from the Blackbird Fly (the first eleven shots)

The camera has two masks, one to give a square frame, one to give a normal 35mm frame. Don't use either mask and you get the image across the sprocket holes.

Here is a video review: http://vimeo.com/1701318?pg=embed&sec=1701318

I really love the painterly colors and the framing of the vignette.
Afga Pro 200-N, I am not familiar with this film. Anything else that matches it? Kodak Gold perhaps?
I really want one!

Could I sell my Weltaflex TLR on the bay for something ridiculous in the couple hundred dollar range if I replace the aging black leatherette with orange fake fur?

Hmmm, 114 euros, without shipping. Expensive for a toy like that.
Great though for someone that bases his/her photography on Holgas and toy cameras as it looks to be the best of the bunch.

Threads merged under combined thread title.

Hmmm, about 100euro for one. I rather buy a 50euro Flexaret IV and know it's takes great pictures then this plastic junk.

What a cool camera! Should have read this thread earlier (should have started this thread, dammit!) and I could have bought one in time for WTCD. Oh well, my holga is busy snapping pics at JFK today.

Regards, Art.

Yea what happened you Art?

I've seen the camera, and I agree it's going to be a tough sell at $100, but as far as plastic cameras go, it's a lot more complex than a Holga, with a focusing viewing lens and 35mm film transport system with rewind.

The viewfinder is a bit strange. It doesn't seem to have a mirror and groundglass, but something like a prism, and what you see in the finder is a kind of circular image, like a big version of the finder on a P&S camera, but with a 90-degree prism in it, so you look down instead of straight on. I guess it's like a larger version of the 90-degree finder on the Yashica T4s, but it's got a focusing lens.

Thanks Art.
Any store in the EU that carries it?
That gallery on your last link, I couldn't find any reference to the camera (looked at the bookstore).

Were you not tempted to buy David ??

Not really. The new Holga 6x12 Pinhole is way cooler for $50.

Freestyle is carrying the Blackbird Fly, and so is ICP in New York.

It's kinda cute, but not $150+ cute. Gads!, I have 80+ year old cameras which are better quality than that little piece of ???p. I probably get better results from my Kodak Brownie Target Six-20. I would pay maybe fifty bucks for it, but even then I would be doing some serious thinking. I'll stick to my antiques.

the sports finder is surely welcome... though i'd probably look the other way when squeezing that trigger

anyway, whatever it takes to convince ilford they're in the right line of business

I think ICP is selling it for around $115. Freestyle should have it at around $100, but it's not listed yet.

Blackbird TLR

Anyone ever heard of these before?

It looks like your typical "toy camera" type deal but I'm always encouraged by the emergence of new film goodies, even if we are dealing with the plastic side of the spectrum. Plus, I find it interesting that it's 35mm in a TLR design and square format option to boot.

I may pick one up just to experiment with. I find toy cameras are great when I start feeling burned out from thinking too much and just want to leave certain aspects for my art to chance.
