Well done to all those "APUG" members featured in the latest issue.

Are we talking about the March issue? I didn't think it was out yet.

Last Saturday of the month it pops through the letterbox regular as clockwork! If you are a subscriber that is

I just read this, went downstairs and there it was on the doormat waiting for me! I've quickly read Dave and co's article on their course with Les, looks like you had an excellent time.

I also spotted in the News section that Kentmere are going to produce new versions of Art Classic and Document Art -- more good news.

Mike

hey - congrats everyone

I was flicking through it this morning and read with surprise, "Nothing in the world can beat learning from an expert on a one-to-one basis, getting to grips with what you really need to know. Dave Miller..."

"Blimey!", I thought, "I didn't know B&WP did articles on cheesecake!"

Then I read on and found that it was about Dave and co's workshop with Les...

:D

Nice one, gents. Very interesting reading, and some very nice images!

I do think you were a bit greedy though, Dave. An article and a website review in one issue?! Are you trying to catch Leon up or something...?!

Top stuff!

Yup, didn't you hear? The magazine merged with the "Cheesecake and Rhubarb Crumble Gazette and News" last month...

Just come in from doing some work (horrors!) and found it on my doormat - the kettle is on for a cuppa with which to read it...

Cheers, Bob.

Kind of off topic (in a way), but is there a place where a US person can get a subscription? They sell it at Barnes & Noble in Des Moines, but I can't get there a lot and it's kind of expensive to buy off the news stand.

An interesting read. Nice to put faces to the names, and nice images. I also found it depressing though, as it reminded me of what I DON'T know and how much MORE I have to learn!

Stoo

P.S If any group is planning on doing the same, please count me in.

Cheesecake and Rhubarb Crumble. Mmmmmmmmmm!

Could that be the reason for the mobile easel? :surprised:

It was a fun filled few days, which I hope is how the article reads. We all enjoyed ourselves, and learnt a lot; quite a bit from each other, as well as from Les, who is a first class teacher.

Stoo, the fact that you don't know it all is what generates the interest. If you are interested in such a course I think you may have to organise it yourself.

I've Just finished reading the article. It does sound like everyone learnt a lot, and just as important, had a great time. Congratulations to all involved.

I'd be interested too. Maybe something to think about for the future??

I didn't see the bit about Kentmere replacing Art Classic, only the bit in the silverprint update about it going (but they did mention possible 'alternative' available through Foma?). Thanks - Must go and re-read as Kentmere A.C. is (was!) one of my very favourites -

So it is, thanks Dave!!!

....Hmmm,.... (reading)....wonder what they mean by 'slight difference in texture'......(I'm so ungrateful, so inflexible... )

Yes, I imagine so Dave. An interesting way of looking at it.

Thank You Kindly

The reference to Kentmere is at the bottom of page 14, left column.

I went to Focus yesterday (Sunday) and had a chat with the Kentmere people. They are trying hard to find a new base for the paper but are still having problems. They thought they had one before Christmas, did a run and found problems with the emulsion bubbling and lifting off.

Focus had plenty of digital and boring stuff for wedding photogs, but still some things to interest us silver buffs. Les did a good toning demo on the Ilford stand. Had a nice chat with Simon Galley. Bought some Ilford Warmtone dev, subscribed to Arem's Mono mag on your earlier recommendation Dave. Looks like a good read. They also included all of last years issues as well as the last Friends book as part of the sub, so excellent value. Mr Cad had 4 bottles of Rodinal left which had all gone by the time I walked past again about half an hour later! I can't remember whether it's you Dave or Bob who was bemoaning the loss of Neutol WA for their Nova, but whoever it is I would contact Arem as they had quite a few bottles on their stand.

Cheers

Mike

That was probably me, banging on about WA... Thanks for the heads-up but I have reconciled myself to the loss and will try Ilford's new warmtone. Even if I get one of the remaining bottles of WA, it will be finished eventually unless Agfa's chemistry is going to be revived as per rumour (which I will believe when I see it) so I'll have to change sometime...

Cheers, Bob.
