I have this photo on tin. The photo is not a copy or a replica. Photo Of Billy the Kid and his brother.

I'm not a historian, but neither of the young men on the photo looks like this "Billy the Kid" to me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_the_Kid

Still a nice double portrait from the early days of photography; nice find. Where did you get it from?

I agree. Neither of the men in the photo shown in post #1 bear any resemblance to the lone verified photo of “Billy the Kid.”

The following Wikipedia article contains the only known verified photo of Henry McCarty (AKA “Billy the Kid,” AKA “William H. Bonney”), as well as a disputed photo. Several unproven photos exist supposedly depicting “Billy the Kid”

The question then becomes why you believe this photo can be attributed to Billy the Kid? Is it written on the back, for instance? If so, perhaps it's another Billy who was nicknamed 'the Kid'. I can imagine several Billies with that monikor having walked the face of the earth.

Actually infamous would be a more correct term.

The majority of the men who founded the United States of America were considered criminals by the British Empire and by many European Royal families so the stigma being labeled a criminal may not be as strong in America as in other countries. Additionally during this period in the 1800s there were books published, called dime novels, that often treated these outlaws as heroes.
