Biking W/BackPack - AND Tripod

Any of you manage to do it? I'm trying to concoct a way to keep tripod attatched underneith pack horizontally as opposed to vertically - which is how the mainstream packs are set up.

I've always bungeed my tripod to the back rack of my bike, on one side above the pannier, lengthwise. Never really liked a backpack while on a bike.
