Before I go to the trouble of mounting my condenser head on a freestanding a base I'd like to see if anyone has ever made really big enlargements with this set-up. The position limits on the metal badge riveted to the front of the condenser show 28,6 for max. enlargement with a 50mm lens. I'm aiming at a print size of 35"x50", which is an enlargement of around 40x or more. Any guesses as to what will happen?

Well not a Durst, but similar a De Vere with a Condenser head -about 25ft long by 8ft high.

Usually you turn the head to project horizontally.

... and it's the same with the 138. Loosen a locking knob and turn the head to project on a wall and the size is only confined by the size of your darkroom. (The lock knob and an angle scale is on the left side of the head. It's done in less than 10 seconds.)

I don't know how often you plan to go big.
but there is a lot to be gained internegatives

35 > 45 > billboard

Anyway, good luck !
