Logging out serves as a sort of "bookmark" for what I've read, since old posts show up below a line marking the last login when I click the "x new posts" link. "Mark All Posts As Read" has a similar effect, but it's more extreme, since old posts don't show up at all in that view. I prefer to do this only once every day or two since new posts can be posted in the few seconds it takes to check new posts and then click the "Mark All Posts As Read" link.

I'm getting the same messages as Art. Windows SP2 and Firefox, and I have logged out and cleared the cache. The performance now is only slightly better than last night, which is much worse than 24 hours ago.

When I click on the down arrow symbol to "go to first unread post", the screen goes blank and locks. It started last night.

Looks like debug code is being displayed at the top of the browser page just about anytime a page update occurs.

FWIW, I've traced my login problems to the bbsessionhash cookie. When I delete that cookie, I'm able to log in. Each login seems to create a new copy of this cookie.

I've been trying to log on all day and got a blank screen, I accidentally clicked on Canon FD Group and I'm on! I don't know why, as the previous post says it may be the cookies.

For about 2 hours, APUG was not available to me. I just got a complete failure to acess it. However, when it came back up, posts had appeared during that time.

Also, every time I click on a screen to select an option, the screens are different. Right now there is no sidebar and no icons or labels are appearing at the head of posts. And, it varies as to which selection I make on the tabs at the top. On one screen the tabs were not there and I had to backpedal to get to a usable screen.

First performance tweak is in but much much more to come with some mysql & apache tweaking next week. Things should be pretty snappy at the moment and even better next week.

which login box, in the top right corner? Are you using a bookmark or going directly to a url? sometimes cookies can be affected if you are alternating between "apug.org" or "www.apug.org"..

I use the login box in the top-right corner, and I've been using a bookmark to get to APUG. The bookmark links to (there was a url link here which no longer exists). When I log in, I get a page that says "click here if you're not redirected" (or words to that effect). I've never been redirected by that screen, so I always click that notice immediately. At that point, I don't see the "x new posts" link in the upper-right corner; I see the login fields again.
