The portrait of little Jimmy that my mother commissioned 60 years ago could have been done with this lens! They were still in common use then, and if I were to look at this portrait and guess, this is exactly where I'd land.

This lens has all the evidence of a long a satisfying career. It's not a "collector" lens. It's a user. I hope someone gets it and makes images like the one next to it.

Heliars are legendary. You look at the resulting image and you say, it's sharp, no it's not, yes it is, no it's not. They were probably the most used portrait lens ever conceived. They render humans brilliantly!

36cm Heliars are available perhaps 80:1 to the larger sizes. 42CM is difficult to find. Uncommon, not rare. 48CM is rare. This one: $1325
