The Costcos in Virginia have reduced the number of stores that develop color 35mm film! Now I have to drive 35 miles one way to get a roll of film developed and printed.

Even worse, they now sell breakfast burritos with uncured bacon! It is illegal to sell food from a sick animal! Who in their right mind would want to eat a sick piggy? It is illegal to sell food from a sick animal! [People who keep Kosher or observe Halal need not apply.]

I sure hope those pigs did not have ammonium thiosulfate poisoning - OR - is that what they fix sick pigs with. I just can’t remember.

Very sorry to hear that Sirius.
Fortunately, I have 3 actual camera shops that process film within 30 miles of my house (in different directions)

I guess that's what I get for living away from big cities.

Why do you have to drive 35 miles, don't they have mail order labs in the U.S. ?

I gave up on local processing when my nearby Target closed their wet lab. Costco is about twenty minutes away -- we're members and we go there regularly, but I figured I'd just be buying time. Not to mention, I knew the people at Target and they knew me, and I didn't want to start all over. So it was out of necessity that I learned to develop my own, but I'm much happier. Might even get into E-6...

And I'll stick with my oatmeal.

i used to bring film to sams for processing upto 120 format and movie film. they sent out to fuji and dwaynes
it was a real deal .. but they stopped or closed the local shop or keep the negatives ...
luckily i have a local lab that i have been going to off and on for 13 years and she is great.
i'd suggest finding someone local steve, or sending it to a lab like thedarkroom.com or bluemoon they are both
apug sponsors and from all reports both to great work.
as for the pig, i don't eat breakfast burritos or store made mexican food ( or wannabe mexican food )

you are on your own there i guess. the forumulary sells speed fixer if you need it in a rush.

How is uncured linked to sickness?

Uncured is a method of preparing bacon and ham. Curing is another method.

No illness involved!

Because if they're uncured they must still be sick.

This thread is ill advised and thus all posting here must be sick.

I think Saturday cartoons would probably be my best bet.

Many sad tears for your crisis. No bacon to ease your processing shock..Where is their humanity?

I heard cured bacon can cause color shifts if film is developed in close proximity.

Just do what I do, shoot about 20 rolls, but some chemistry, leave the film in a box for about a year. Leave the chemistry in another box for about a year. Look in the film box and realize you have enough film for a batch. Buy some more chemistry because you forgot you have chemistry already. Discover the old chemistry while putting away the new chemistry. Write about it here and plan on developing next week.

Don't have enough film? That's what friend are for, just tell them to bring beer.

It's amazing how meat can be cured by the application of a few nitrites. A lot of that sick bacon (uncured) has been treated with celery seed powder, which contains a lot of nitrite. Good for the sick meat, good for the taste.

E6 or C41? Is that Canadian stuff really considered bacon there or have they had a good long hearty laugh at the rest of us who call it that?

Especially when cooked in a microwave oven. If fried or baked, there may be a reciprocity failure but not colour shifts. It is called "hog fog".

I saw some pigs makin' bacon--they were right in the middle of a porkin' lot!
