A round of applause for Nikon service!

I gave them my F5 because the front dial was misbehaving (skipping apertures, sometimes random values).

After 2 days they said it would cost ~€200, but it will take a while (spare parts needed to be ordered from Nikon in Japan). I was OK with that and not expecting a 24h repair. So, I trusted them my F5 and waited...

Yesterday I picked up my F5. The dial is now working and I paid exactly what was agreed upon.

And additionally:

- the F5 was re-leathered

- the camera was completely cleaned and adjusted

It's like new! This is an well used camera and it's still being serviced/repaired by Nikon!

So, let's load some Portra400 into it and test it!

I've had similar repair work done on both my F5 and F6 (the front command dial which is used to regulate shutter speeds); in both instances Nikon USA did the work. Cost and turnaround were both as promised; both cameras are "as good as new, and presently loaded with E100G. Perhaps I'm one of the lucky few, because I've never had to deal with the covering ("leather" separation) issue. But, then again, I live in the Pacific "Northwet."

"Leather" wasn't even separating, it just looked like ... crap. I am really happy with Nikon Service. They used to be (~10 years ago) the worst of the worst, but since Nikon changed their local partner (Austria), service is absolutely stunning.
