Has anyone used the glass from betterscanning.com on their scanner? I'm not sure it matters but I'm using a Epson V500.
I'd just like to see if I can get them a bit Flatter.
Thanks so much.
Hi, im new to this forum but i do have a V500 and a holder from Betterscanning.
About your question, i can say by personal experience that the film will stay flat / flatter than using the standard film holders.
In terms of sharpness i didnt notice much and i did a lot of tests at diferent heights and comparing at the same time with the standard holder.
I have the variable height holder from betterscanning and i found my sweet spot at 4mm height, but compared to 2mm the diference was minimal, i went as close as a 400% magnification or more, i recall i went to pixel size
but that was too much! take a photo os some leters and go from there.
In my oppinion for the V500 the diference in sharping (compared to the original holder)isnt as much as i have read using it on V700 / V750, one thing is a lot better than using the standard holder, the film will stay flat and its very easy to insert the film in the betterscanning holder: just remove the ANR glass, put the film and the glass on top. with the standard holder it looks fragile and it takes a lot more time to put the film into the right position.
I hope i helped somehow.
Cheers
