As a tangent to Christopher Burkett, I have one of his books, and have seen his Ciba prints in person a few times...

It's absolutely amazing. I have seen and own a few dye transfer prints, I have seen some of the highest quality inkjet prints that go for tens of thousands or more. I have seen many darkroom prints...

The clarity and the 3-Dness of Mr. Burkett print is just a step above.

That does not make it a bad lens it shows the person who didn't pack it is bad at organising

Since I received my CFV16 Digital Back, I decided to now get back the lenses I sold off back in the day. Subjects and needs are different now, today I received a nice black C T* 120mm f5.6 Zeiss Planar-S. And a very clean black 250mm f5.6 C T* is coming from Japan. So now there are no holes in the system from 30mm to 500mm. The 105UV and the 250 Achromat are out of my reach, and I'm not doing scientific photography. I'm sure I'll get good utility from all of them! They should all get good use

For some reason or the other I find it harder to focus the 100mm than it is to focus the 80 or 120. I'm not talking about the physical resistance of the focus ring. While looking through the viewfinder the images just pops into focus when using the 80 or 120. The 100 just doesn't do that. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I think I've experienced it with different cameras, different viewfinders and different focusing screens.

@MrclSchprs Can confirm! You are not imagining it. I think the reason is that the 80mm is 2/3 of a stop faster, and the 120mm is 20% longer. Which means that both have a more shallow DOF which aids focusing.

Frog Pond, Kingswood Gardens, Mansfield Ohio. Kodak 70mm Surveillance Film, ADOX Borax MQ dev, Hasselblad 500C/M 30mm T* Distagon, Handheld exposure. Arista #2 8x10 Matte RC paper, Multigrade dev. Processed in 70mm Kindermann Dev Tank. Kodak Surveillance reminds me a lot of the older Tri-X emulsion. The sun was just out of the frame upper left corner. The circular garden works well with the Hassy Fishy lens. This was a fun shoot!

500mm Oberkochen 500ELM CFV16 EI 200 EV 14.5 by Nokton48, on Flickr

This is the first test of the 500mm F8 Oberkochen Opton Hasselblad lens. EL/M Body with Olde Hasselblad CDS Meter Prism indicated EV14.5. Set that on the lens, this is the result. Hasselblad CFV16 Digital Back set to Ei 200, camera/lens mounted on a Plaubel Peco 2 Way Head, attached to sturdy Manfrotto legs. The pretty new Magnolia tree is our yard was blowing visibly, the 500mm shutter seems to have frozen it, there was a lot of leaf movment in the breeze. It is fun to play with the new digital back and I am loving the saturated colors I'm getting. Hasselblad says it's the fat pixels, but also how much space is around each pixel. Anyways I'm loving the color right out of the camera. Shooting distance was 28 feet, the absolute minimum focus distance on the lens. So I will add extension tubes if needed.

Can't say I've noticed any real difference, but then having the Acute Matte screen with the rangefinder spot and microprism collar probably helps.

On the contrary, I find the 100mm easier to use without focusing aids.

What gets better, Eli, is putting the Hasselblad CFV16 Digital V Back on these cameras. I used to shoot Fujiroids, Instant Photography is so much fun. Same idea with CFV16, no trash/mess Instant Hasselblad feedback. It affects the way I think during the shoot in a way that is much more important to me, than who has the sharpest lens. If I can get a quality 10x10 or 16x16 that's as big as I go. C T* lenses cut the mustard in use for me.

I use to use these cameras at Events. Now I have rebuilt them, updated somewhat. On the left, 25th Anniversary signed Hasselblad 500C/M, now updated for today, with the CFV16 Hasselblad Digital Back. Introduced in 2007 and produces great results right out of the camera. Super Uber Easy to Use, Very Friendly. On the right is my 500EL/M loaded with 220 B&W Shanghai. Back in the day I would use FUJI EI 800 Color Neg. The EL/M has my new to me 120mm F5.6 S-Planar C T* with Masked Compendium Hood. Noisy but draws attention in a good way. Plan to shoot a few events with these. The camera on the left has the 80mm F2.8 C T* Zeiss Planar.

Very interesting replies to the original question. I have three lenses: 50 f4 CF. 150 F4 CF, and interesting hybrid 80 F2.8. The 80 is marked C, however it has all the properties that were incorporated into the CF. It was apparently produced with the proposed upgrades to see how users reacted. If someone has additional information I'd be glad to read it.

There was a 80mm "C"-Lens sold as a kit lens during the 90s together with the 501C. Optically, this one is identical to the CF-Version and also features the same barrel, minus some functions. Is this the lens you have or an altogether different one?
