Leica R4
+1
I love it, too. Not quiet but a good sound, like a Mercedes W126 (1980s S-class).

...... I like the photos I get, but I hate the sound of the thing.
There are situations when quiet and discreet operation is a very desirable character to have in a camera. The Canonet QL17 isn't all that quiet when compared to other cameras. The quietest camera I've come across is the Braun Paxette. If it weren't for a slight jitter in the viewfinder, I wouldn't know if the shutter release actually took place or not.
How can you beat the sound of a Hasselblad;sounds like a Mercedes door closing!
The M series Leicas have a wonderful feel, but I really like the solid th-WAK of a Hasselblad, Speed Graphic or Graflex.
Lens quality of the Canon QL-17 GIII is quite good, about the same as the Minolta and Yashica rangefinder cameras from that period. Maybe a little more contrast than the Yashicas, but just barely. The Canon QL-17 GIII Model? You like it’s lens quality?
I second that. I love the feel of an M3 or Rolleiflex; but the coolest shutter sound ever is in my opinion Hasselblad. (Sorry, no experience with SG or Graflex) The Nikon F3 is not far behind, though! The M series Leicas have a wonderful feel, but I really like the solid th-WAK of a Hasselblad, Speed Graphic or Graflex.
Poetry - absolute poetry!!!Hasselblad? Hah! I have four of them and, even when new or freshly CLA'd they sound like a roast duck falling out of the pan onto the floor.
I was just thinking the same. I enjoy the release and sound of the Nikkormat FTN shutter.I wanna revise my choice....I just picked up my old Nikkormat FTN again last night....I think it is my favorite.
No love for the Nikon F? ...
...
What gets my attention more is the sound. ... For example, my plain-prism F with 85/1.8 pre-AI sounds great: a soft but solid thwap. ...
