Yup, the 23C carriers are cross compatible between all models of the 23C, 23C-II, 23C-III, I actually prefer the older all black carriers. I don't have a 23 at home but I modified both Negatrans' to use on my Omega and I have 9 23C's, mostly model II's in the school darkroom.

Thanks so much for your reply and help!

Rather than make a new thread..I figured I would throw this in here. I've become confused trying to look this stuff up on other sites. I assume the jam nut is what I have pictured in the middle. I'm not sure of its function. Do they just act as a spacer for a tight fit?

Yes, that's the jam nut. On my beseler lens board, it is what holds the lens in place. My lens board has a plain un-threaded hole and does not have the threaded insert like seen on your board. Someone will probably come along and tell us what the threaded insert on your board is....

Ok thank you. I assume the other insert is the mounting ring. What's confusing is when researching this, the two terms are used interchangeably. If my lens mounts in the mounting ring without the need of the jam nut, i'm just not sure of the latter's purpose.

I don't think you need the jam nut if the lens board already has threads... but you might want to put it in a safe place in case you ever get another lens board, and if you ever sell your enlarger lens it would be nice to include it. I've got one jam nut, one lens board, and 2 lenses, so when I swap lenses I need to swap the jam nut too.... Have fun!

Jam nuts are also referred to as retaining rings, in case that helps those who find the terminology confusing.
Personally I prefer the "retaining ring" term, because jam nuts don't really seem to "jam" anything.

OK.
Jam nuts aren't supposed to "jam" anything:D

Just to clarify - new enlarger lenses come with the proper retaining ring (jam nut). But some lens boards are threaded - not many from what I've seen, but a few are, in which case the nut isn't needed. You just screw the lens right into the board. The good thing about the nut vs. a threaded board? You can snug-up the lens with the f-stops perfectly facing you.
