I've just been getting back to some darkroom activity after losing access to my darkroom. I've got a somewhat temporary setup, using a 23CII with a VC head (new to me). I noticed that the colors of the head do not relate to my memory of the magenta to yellow tones of my past experience with filters and dichro settings. This seems to go from a more white light to a blue at higher contrast settings. It is the same at the Kodak/Ilford and Agfa settings. I did a few test prints last evening with disappointing results and the contrast was flat at all settings. Do the built in filters go bad? Is there a common source of problems on these? I'm resisting the urge to take it apart without knowing what I'm looking for.
I'm also using a Nova processor for the first time in my mini setup so I've got multiple newbie items in front of me at the same time but that part of my new process is going as expected and I think I'll like using it. That VC head has me stumped and I'd love to get it working. I've got a dichro head somewhere for the 23CII so I can always mount that and get back to work, too. I've got a 45MX and a 45V-XL but no proper space right now or for some time and I'd like to start catching up on a large stash of waiting negatives.
