Just wanted to give Beseler a shout-out for customer support. I called them to get some replacement parts for my Beseler 45V-XL (it was in a student darkroom in its past life). I spoke to a very helpful young woman who helped me find exactly the parts I needed, quickly. I was going off the parts diagram on their website, which has at least (that I was able to determine) one error on it - she worked with me to figure out the actual part number for the part I needed, took my order and gave me an approximate shipping time. In and out under 10 minutes.

TFC - Bravo! We all have experience of lousy cust. svs., but that makes it really important to shout when some outfit does it well. I applaud your classy post. 'Hope others will do likewise.

My recent kudo went to Formulary. They prob. already enjoy a well deserved good reputation, but I wrote them when my order arrived to say thanks for doing your work well.

Really?! I'm glad they helped you out mate. I have a 45V XL and they offered no help when it came to my Beseler Universal 45 VC controller. It's acting up and I fear about to die...I guess hardware support vs electronic circuit help is different though.

That might also be one of those components that they consider not "user-serviceable". Or it might be old enough that they don't have spares for it any more. But they should still be up front about such things when you call if that is the case.

I'm just glad they're still in business and making spare parts of any kind for such beasts. God knows there aren't too many institutions out there (or individuals!) willing to shell out $5K for a new enlarger these days.
