Beseler 23cii diffuser chamber problem

I just purchased a 23cii with dual Dichro s colorhead. The colorhead has the honeycomb, but I do not have a diffuser for the condenser chamber. I took out the lenses but that did not produce light across the whole negative. I just got a spot of light in the middle of the negative. It does work with the lenses in but I read that I should not be doing that.
I hope someone has some advice for me. I could not find a diffuser to buy.

There are two ways to use the Beseler Dual Dichro head.

1. With Condenser Unit installed and the Conic Light Integrator on the bottom of the head.

2. With the Diffusion Unit installed and the Hex Cell Diffuser on the bottom of the head.

This is discussed in the Dual Dichro manual. The instructions are the same for the Dual Dichro-S. The Conic Light Integrator is offered for sale on eBay from time to time. You have to be patient and keep checking.

For what it is worth you might also try a bit of frosted perspex (milky plastic/acrylic) cut to size. I've been using my homemade diffuser in my 23CII for many years now although mine has a conventional incandescent lamphouse. Best of luck. cheeers.
