Not surprising at all:
Typically artists came out of bourgeois families, and such families then played the leading part in industrialisation.

Another aspect:
The Mendelssohn-Agfa connection was continiued with his son, but ended by anti-judaism at Agfa 1933.

Another nice note about Bergger is that they reply to emails. I sent one last week and they promptly return my query

Has anybody else had the Same/Similar problem(s) with Ilford Paper.?

I've used a few boxes of Ilford Classic FB in 11x14 and 16x20 -- No issues at all. Fantastic paper that tones beautifully and is easy to use without toning, also.

Ilford's Warm Tone FB is an absolute dream. Love everything about that product...I haven't used their Cooltone paper and so can't comment on that.

Yes... a fresh breeze I must say.

I plan to move from my usage of Ilford products to Berrger in the next few years...the distributor in Canada is absolutely horrific to deal with and never ever has stock.

Here in Oregon we have the opposite problem: you can find any Ilford products at any of the retailers, but the Bergger products are often out of stock for months at a time. I spoke at length with one retailer who said the US distributor is the weak link - its not Bergger's fault directly. Too bad, because I like Pancro 400 a lot, especially in the BER49 developer.

I've found the Berspeed developer very, very much to my liking with Delta 400 on a Jobo. Have wondered about BER49 - which I haven't used. Website isn't real clear as the differences. Can you shed any more light?

I'm currently using some of the original bergger graded paper. Have no clue who actually made it but it is a very fine paper.
I tried the 400 speed film but went right back to ilford and Kodak
I am looking forward to the new print film if its anything like gevatone N-31p it will be great

hi peter
is it the stuff ( film and paper ) that was coated and made by forte ? i know for a long while
forte was working with bergger making photographic materials. about 15 years ago there was
a long wandering thread here and on the LF site about all the papers and films that were distributed by
various marks and made by various other organizations. in the end it all worked out that everything was made
by the guy in australia who had that giant hand made wooden coating machine in his garage.

John I couldn't tell you for sure. There are no marking on the boxes; not even the usual made in EU label. All I can tell you is the paper has a scale. Just wanting to use up my stash of graded papers as they are getting old then I ho back to foma 132VC
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Mendelssohn Bartholdy together with a partner founded in186 a dye-stuff enterprise. In 1872 they took over a competing firm. In 1873 they fused both firms to AGFA.
The decision to form a photographic department only much later was trickled by one of their chemists, Momme Andresen, who was amateur photographer and already invented a developing agent.
