Bergger panchro 400?

Yesterday I had an opportunity to shoot in one of my favorite spots on the river under cloudy conditions, and I used 8X10 inch Bergger Pancro400, with the Deardorff (and Schneider Symmar-S 240mm lens). This negative was processed in Rodinal 1:25 for 7 minutes (slight pull). I felt I was having "a Clyde Butcher Moment", standing chest deep (wearing waders) in the river with my Deardoff!

Here's a scan from a recent print. Taken on Bergger Pancro400 at EI400 with a Minolta SRT 101, a 50 mm lens at F/2, developed in XTOL (stock) for 10 min. at 68F. The paper is Ilford Multigrade IV RC 8x10, a full-frame print from the negative. Developed in Ilford Multigrade Developer. My flatbed scanner is Epson XP-430, an all-in-one printer/scanner.

I ran a short roll of 35mm in pyrocat-HD. The pyrocat has been sitting on a shelf for a year, so had the TF4 fixer...
The base stain on unexposed frames is a lot deeper than what I remember from my last HP5+ a year ago. I'll try to normalize a scan to illustrate, can't print until late Fall.
The bad news is that 35mm is very curly straight out of the canister and it takes some finesse to load reels. The great news is that if you hang dry it with clips at the bottom the 35mm variety ends up very flat and easy to work with after.

Pre-soak 5 minutes at working temp
Pyrocat-HD 1:1:100 560ml in a Jobo tank and continuous agitation on a roller, 75deg @ 14 minutes. That's just a random time guess, I don't have any baseline info on pyro with this film.
Indicator stop 30 seconds
TF4 6 minutes. I also think that, after reading more, this might not be the right time.

Not sure if the deep stain just how the film reacts with pyro or if the chemistry age/heat is involved? I have a bag of XTol to try sometime this month, too, and I want to do another round with pyrocat after adjusting.

An ongoing series of Alder Root studies, shot on 8X10 Bergger Pancro 400 (with Deardorff)

Technical:
- lens used was my Schneider Symmar-S 240
- as others have mentioned the base+fog is higher than most emulsions, but that isn't a problem for me.
- Exposure was calculated to be 1:45 @ f45 based on an initial estimate of 22 seconds, and I applied the reciprocity factor for HP5, which I find works well enough (we apparently don't have reciprocity information about Pancro 400) I consider this negative to be an ideal exposure, so HP5's reciprocity values are workable, in case you wondered.
- Processed in Rodinal 1:50 for 20 minutes (2 minutes less than Bergger's suggested starting point. I did this to limit contrast buildup from long exposure/reciprocity.
- minimal adjustments for contrast done in Lightroom, slight vignette applied

I use an app on my phone called Reciprocity+ by Henry Thomas to determine reciprocity adjustment. He's the same guy that created the Pinhole Assist light meter app, which I find invaluable.
The Reciprocity+ app had its most recent update in May of 2017 and there's no mention of using Ilford's newer data on reciprocity. I suspect the app uses the older Ilford information, but without asking the app creator, I can only guess.
