Been gifted a pile of Expired Slide Film

I colleague of mine gifted me a pile of Provia 100, 400, Kodak Elite chrome, and who knows what else on average out of date since 04 and kept in the freezer other than this evening's trip back to my place in trunk of my golf. The slide film stash is back in the freezer.

On average, this film still good as slide film or should I get it cross processed?

It should be good. The 400-speed (or faster) is going to be the most likely to not be good. It might have some base fog and colour shifting. Try a test roll and see.

If you find that any of the film is off, you can still play a little and try some cross processing. I've done that with some long expired Elite that my sister found. On the whole, it was not a bad use of free film. I've got a pretty good relationship with the photo folks at our local Shoppers Drug Mart. They don't mind doing a little cross processing, and they will spend time with me getting the colours "right" for prints.

I should do an inventory of what I got. then figure out what to do with it. On average it's about 5-6 years past it's collective best before date.

Also got 10 rolls of Tri-x and I am not so worried about that.

Oh, what a coincidence. Tonight i just picked up some expired slide film aswell. It went out of date about 3 years aog but was refridgerated.. 17 rolls of provia and about 5 rolls of velvia (plus a few other randoms). Was wondering if i should just cross process it too. Mine hasnt been stored in the freezer though, so may no tbe in as good condition as yours?
Anyway, who can complain about free film

IF it's been frozen it'll be absolutely fine. The 400 speed stuff will have a slightly reduced DMAX.
