Hey! The party grows by leaps and bounds! I haven't planned a big meal because I didn't want to hang around the cottage this time - it's WAY too easy to get caught up talking and drinking beer - and never really get any shooting done. How about we light a grill sometime in the afternoon over at Harkness? There are lots available and plenty of room to spread out around the mansion and the grounds. I'll get some chicken and some sausages and make a mac salad. I can also have a cooler of beer and soda (wine?) Other folks can bring what they want - or buy what they want on the way over to the park. It's not far.

If we meet at the cottage we can carpool to Harkness. If you come there in your own car expect a $10 parking fee for the day. I want to get out with whomever is around fairly early (Gene, at least, as he and Eileen are coming on Friday, but it sounds like a few more may be doing the breakfast thing). I will leave a note if we are not there when you arrive. I would then expect to come back to the cottage, gather the late-coming crowds and head to the park. Some may choose to go to the local beach, as there is no swimming allowed at the park. Membership tags will be available at the house.

Of course, we may all end up hanging around as usual... it's not that bad. The grill at the house can be pressed into service as well. This crowd does like to talk. Swap/give away table will be at the house. All who come must have their portrait taken - in groups and/or alone. Funky lens, bad photographer... don't expect much.

OK... breakfast is the popular option. How about we meet for breakfast at 8 or so at When Pigs Fly Cafe, in the Jordan Village section of Waterford? They get crowded on weekends, but it's a cool place and the blueberry bread french toast is dangerous.

Art, it's right next door to the firehouse where you met with the photo club.

Whitey - I will try again to bring some Dam Ale, if not I'll bring some Opa-Opa... or both! :D

Gotta keep up that beer consumption so I'll have something to blame when my photos don't look all that good, right?

:D ...

I'm definitely up for breakfast....AND beer. No...not at the same time...after 11. I'll have my cooler w/ veggie burgers and film.

We will get there around mid-day. I'd like to take the kids to the swimming beach, but I'll pack some burgers/dogs and fixings for a picnic... either at Harkness or the cottage. As I recall, the light got pretty sweet in the afternoon at Harkness, and I made at least one good picture there last year...

Oh... and here's the "no swimming allowed beach!"

They weren't swimming, just cooling off! I've never seen anyone get spoken to about getting wet there, they just don't want to have to have a lifeguard.

so, lets firm things up: 8am at when pigs fly cafe - this is etched in stone  and from there to: cottage or Harkness? My thought (fwiw) is since we'll be back at Whitey's later on...that we go to Harkness for a couple hours. What do ya all think?

Whatever... We'll have a good time. The cottage is halfway between the cafe and Harkness. No problem where we go. See you all then.

Sorry I missed it this time, i was really trying to go. Family obligations called and couldnt get away.

Fun was had by all. Now to get down to developing all that film!

Missed you, Paul, but it won't be the last gathering. Thanks to all for their contributions to a nice (and productive) day.

a few fuzzies...

Here are some of the shots I took with the binocular lens - Crown Optics 7x50. Wonder why, if everybody says they had a good time, I couldn't get a smile from anyone? Serious looking crowd... well, Art would be serious if he put his phone down for a minute!
