OK... Adding to the Bar-B-Que give-aways: Bunch of Polaroid 600 series cameras, two sx70 folders, 3 or 4 100E specials (take pack film and work with Fuji), mini-portrait camera that works with Fuji as well (takes two images on one sheet) and other arcane goodies from the cave of Dick Welch.

I also have, until Sunday, a Vivitar enlarger still in it's box, free to anybody who wants to come get it. There are other large and savory bits available from this move, but I can't judge their current condition or promise when they will be out from under the pile. The trash man cometh on Monday. PM me if you're interested in anything in particular. No promises, but there is a lot of stuff going to the dump on Monday. Projectors? Slide materials? Movie stuff?

I wanna play too. I will double check my schedule when I am in the studio tomorrow to make sure it is an open date. I will need to stay over, so is there a motel in the area?

Will do, Art, Thanks. I think the count is upwards of 14 photographers, at least 8 kids and various spouses. Keep 'em coming! Room enough for a dozen more.

Bring your rain gear....well, just in case  Also, maybe we can have a workshop component to this day (environmental portraiture, pinhole landscapes, dining while photographing, etc) so we can write it off!

I like the "How to eat BBQ and hand-hold a 4x5 at the same time" idea. You teaching it, Drew?

Details, details. We'll have green salad, pasta salad, cold BBQ chicken for sandwiches, pulled pork, Hebrew National hot dogs and some munchies. We have some beer, soda and water to drink. Bring whatever else you desire. The house is .4 miles down toward the water from the school at the corner of Great Neck Rd (that's Rt 213. There is a sign for a boat ramp at that corner.) It's on the right, on the corner, with the crosswalk sign and the fire hydrant out front. I'll try to make sure there's an APUG sign on the lawn. Parking is where you can find it but there shouldn't be a problem, we've had large gatherings there many times in the past. I figure we might start serious eating about 2, going off for shooting expeditions before and after, but then, all is flexible - this isn't a fancy party, it's a chance to get together and shoot pictures. Gene and I will no doubt do some (relative) early morning shooting if he can get down there the night before. Anyone else that wants to join us for that is welcome.

Remember to have room in your car for all the stuff I want to give away. Polaroid cameras anyone? I have about eight freebies that take 600 film and a couple that shoot pack film (Fuji.) I have a stock of old 55 film too that I think jnanian will want - it's funky. If there is interest in the color canoe developing tray set I have in the classifieds, PM me. I'll give them to the first interested party since it was too expensive to ship to CA for Gustavo. They'll take up a lot of room in my over-packed car to bring down if nobody wants them. Same thing for a complete CU5 Polaroid close-up camera set. It's in three boxes and includes 2 backs, good lenses, ring flashes and the power supply for them, frameworks for setting up fixed focus shots, etc. Pretty neat set-up and it takes pack film so it will continue to be usable. Heck, you might want it just for the 127 and 75 mm lenses and shutters, but I'd like to give the whole thing away as a set. I have three 4x5 Polaroid adapters to give away as well, a 545 and two 500's. Ya gotta show up to get the goodies, though.

Rain would NOT be fun. The house is actually tiny and unsuitable for indoor parties. We could have Sunday as a rain date, but I'll post here later in the week if we're calling the whole thing off due to impending weather.

How about "Developing Tri-X in BBQ Sauce for the Ultimate Stained Negative!" :D
I will be bringing chili (but use it as a developer at your own risk) for my contribution to the meal.

Since many of the GAWDS (Going All the Way Despite Senility?) will be there, bring what you will, oh multi-national one. No Tempe! No Tempe! No Tempe!

Lets make it 8:30 and hopefully Whitey can steer us to some local eatery that will serve mass quantities of hot liquid (as well as solid) refreshments.

Hi Whitey!
We have survived the Cambridge River Festival and can now turn our attention to meeting up with you guys. Ms. Holly and I are wondering if there might be room for a tent on the lawn? Cuz if it's a happening pahty, we won't want to drive back to Charlemont that night.

Loooking forward to seeing you!

What time should I plan on arriving? I might drive out from NJ in the morning rather than get a motel in the area for Friday night.

Some folk (see Drew and Art above) are doing breakfast at 8:30. Others will come later in the day. Weather Gods willing, there will be plenty of shooting (and eating) all day long. I figure the main eating event to be mid afternoon -- 2 to 3? An early morning shoot is possible for the Friday night people - just papagene, me, and Chris DaVita so far, and Chris may beg off on that. (Kid stuff may be more pressing activity.)

I'll shoot with you guys in the morning. I'll be coming out Friday afternoon to avoid a four hour drive Saturday morning. See everyone then.

OK. Here's the latest from NOAA:

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 77. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

To my way of thinking this is a general, "we don't know" kind of forecast. There is always a chance of thunderstorms at the beach on summer afternoons! I predict interesting cloud formations and I think we'll go with it. There is a great used book store (and I mean great!) nearby where we can wait out any threat. They have multiple buildings, multiple cats and dogs, free refreshments and a good selection of photography books.

Newer forecast:
Saturday...Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Better yet!

A clarification of directions from Rt 1 onward may be needed. The turn onto Avery Lane is at Silva's Package Store (that's a liquor store to anyone not from CT) Then straight through the next lights onto 213 - toward Harkness Park and the O'Neill Theater. The right turn onto Goshen Rd is a couple of miles down, at a school. There is a public boat ramp sign at the corner pointing toward the water (and the cottage.) My cell is 978-844-4363. See all who can make it there.
