There's not a mark on this as to who made it. You'll just have to take my word for it. Bausch & Lomb was busy saturating the market with these lenses 100+ years ago. Most have other retailer's names on them, as this one was probably intended to have. A few turn up with the Bausch & Lomb distinctive triangular logo. This one is blank.
They came in a couple of different formats too. Some have the rear glasses seperated in 2 distinct housings so that you can unscrew for diffusion. This one is like that. What is cool about that is it gives you 3 possible modes to use this lens in. I've done a page of pictures that hopefully shows the possibilities and explains what I'm talking about. All of the pictures on that page were done with this lens.
The aperture on these was fragile, made of a paper compound which hasn't survived the journey of the years. I've not found one of these so far with a working aperture. Glass is about average. Cleaning sleaks. A cloudy spot on the rearmost. Nothing that matters. This isn't a collector lens, it's a USER!
This will cover 5X7 and moved in a bit even 6.5X8.5. The page of images I did were done on 8X10 but I was in pretty tight on my subject. You can see the vignette starting on the first chair picture. It would likely swirl if you found the right situation and format size. I'd try it with overhanging branches on full plate to see swirlies.
Looking for $365 on this one.
