Do use the bathroom, and steaming up the room is a great tip...
BUT, avoid the mistake I once made; place a towel on the floor under where the film is dripping... The towel will "dampen" the motion of the droplets when they land and prevent them from splashing.
I had a bad experience once hunging film up in the shower. Water dripping from the film was slightly splashing from the floor of the shower back onto the film. Whatever residue there was on the shower floor, it caused irreparable staining and actually bleached density from the emulsion. Not cool!
