Hello, just wondering if anyone knows what filters and/or lens hood would fit a Balda Super Baldax with the Schneider Radionar f2.9? The lens is threaded and measures approximately 40mm on inside, but the only 40mm filter I have on hand is just slightly too small. Having trouble finding examples on interweb or eBay. Thanks!

40.5mm is a standard size (or was, when filters were easier to buy). That's the fitting on my Lubitel 166B. Heliopan (nothing to do with me) make a yellow filter (about fifty dollars!) and a rubber hood (26 dollars) in that size.

.. and check out the comments on this Franka with the same lens:

This looks like 40.5 mm filter thread. Not all modern filters are available in this size but you can use a step-up ring to adapt larger size filters. Lens hoods are readily available from popular internet auction sites. I bought a few and they are good quality.
Push-on filters and hoods can be used as well but they are rare and do not always fit the lens well even if the nominal diameter is correct.

Thanks! That one appears out of stock, but just found equivalent used one on eBay 😎

Voigtlander lenses for their Bessamatic and Ultramatic SLRs mostly used 40.5mm. The Skopar X 50mm f2.8s are often practically given away for free when the bodies break, so that might be a source of filters and hoods for you.
