I mentioned it because I thought I remembered someone speculating that they were going to use plastic cassettes, and I never got that early rolls, so I didn’t know what to expect. I did notice that the box has no expiration or manufacture date.

Looking forward to someone who's developed both the alpha version and the final product telling us about the difference!

I just received the new film today so when I can I’ll share what I see.

I mentioned a week ago that I had not received the recent Kickstarter email. No one else said they had this problem, and Charles replied:
Beleive that was the one pointing at the video. if you did not get it, you PROBABLY should make sure that you use the "contact us" on there web site to ensure your information is up to date in their Data base.

Thank you for this advice and thank you as well to Truzi. I did use "contact us" a week ago, giving the same email address as always, but have no reply. I'll keep following links from here instead, for which many thanks.

You seem to be quite down about it all. Perhaps you can give us some useful insights in how things can be changed for the better?

I would like more frequent updates, but perhaps there is just nothing substantial to say.

We need to remember the kind of open-ness Film Ferrania has shown is uncanny in the photography buisness, if any business at all. I think we should cherish the people for that. I am glad to have them on Apug.

I, quite frankly, have not been happy with my P30 results from the lab. I recently started to develop b/w myself and got some silvermax developer, has anybody gotten good results with this and P30?

I'm sorry I did not see this months ago, but I did run a roll through Silvermax Developer using the recipe provided for their 100 ISO film. Here are the results:

Ferrania latest Video is up. apology for missing there targets.

at least they are managing to sell some B&W film.

The tenacity of these people is incredible!
Most other teams would have fallen apart in the hardships they’ve been through.
You can only root for them if you have any love for this medium.
I enjoy P30 a lot, and I still look forward to an alternative E6 film.

After a little bashing of my own over this project, I just scored 2 rolls of FP30 from a dealer in Poland. Apparently they requested 50 rolls, received some 20+ instead and they sold out just like that. No idea what this film is, but I still hope it will continue in the direction of sustainable production and move into 120 as well. And 127?

They would have the 127 market all to themselves if they did.
Regarding the E6 film they are still working on, they might consider doing a really slow, high resolution one, like 64 or 25.
Speedy slide is hard to do, so if they want to differentiate, they might consider slow and fine.
Would go well with P30.

Yeah, agree.

It appears they do have production set up for B&W and I actually wonder, if they should not capitalize on that, take FP30 into no longer existing formats (jumping into 127 would give them instant market vs. going against competition in 35/120 at a double price) and in the mean time continue work on the E6.

I have a Yashica 44 LM, considering Baby Rollei and looks like a lot of fun, except cutting/spooling own film. And 127 appears to have quite some interest, super-slides multiplying the appeal (I assume FP30 can be reverse-processed with good results).

There is 127 film available but I believe it is hand rolled by some dude in Japan cut down from larger format Ilford HP5+
As such it doesn't come cheap and Ferrania may well be able to undercut the hand rolled 127 if they can achieve in-house production. My understanding is that they're working on full in house production of 135 and then 120 first.

I'd buy the occasional roll of 127 film if it were under £10 a pop. I have two little, basic 127 cameras but it's fun to use them. I'd also definitely be on the lookout for a baby Rollei if they can bring back 127.;

Buying at such a premium for handrolled 127, I'd rather set up my own jig and have many film choices. Manufactured 127 is another matter. At $10 per roll would be OK if they could do the 12 shot rolls like for the Baby Rollei.

Yup, I agree.
Finally they acknowledge the Kickstarter has failed.
I think this was no surprise to any of us, good news is the business is still running and they are producing film, albeit a B&W film, but at least they have something that can generate revenue for the business and we now have another company that is producing film.
Im not a B&W shooter personally, and even though the market is flooded with B&W, P30 does appear to bring something new to the table and different than what Ilford, ADOX or Kodak etc are producing.
Someday I will probably try some, but wouldn't mind waiting for the proper chemistry to be available for developing the stuff.
I think its great to see Ferrania still being able to continue in Italy and having a coater that is in continual operation now and maintenance after years of neglect is the path forward to producing colour film.
I just hope the vouchers we get from the kickstarter will not expire so we can use them to buy colour film when available.

if it was not for Bad Luck, the folks at Ferrania would not have any luck at all.

the CEO posted today that he is stuck in his apartment due to the Clamp Down in Northern Italy over the COVID-19 Virus.

the poor lad looks tired in the video.

I can feel the poor dude, I'm in the same situation with my company and it looks like a tough couple months coming

I've got no work for the foreseeable future. Day by day things are getting locked down even further.

I had to make the decision yesterday, to close my shop and minilab (until the end of March at least), stop all online orders etc and put staff on temporary layoff with no pay. Not one of the best days in my career.

Stay well. I've been considering driving across to say hello some time. I now look forward to it as a real treat, once this is over.

Very sad to hear that, but you've got to look after yourself and (long term) your business. I imagine various parts of the world are really suffering in terms of customers actually visiting shops. England isn't quite like that yet but the time will come...and we'll all be out and about less photographing things.

Thank you for your kind words and wishes, very much appreciated.

I developed my first roll of P30 yesterday (5' in Ilfotec HC) and like the negatives. Thank goodness there's something to do during self-isolation, without putting anyone else at risk (I hope).

I hope the whole team stays safe, its probably the best thing they can do right now is to stay home.
I was thinking about them the other day, they are based in one of the worst hit areas in the country.

Facebook had an update with a link to a revised version of their site https://linktr.ee/filmferrania

I was also able to once again place an order for 35mm P30 on their US/Canada site.

will wait to see if the CEO is happier in his next Video.
