B&W chemicals on color film

Hey guys, just wandering if something interesting happends if I develop color film on black and white chemistry

The silver in colour films is only intended to form an intermediate "image" so to say, the final dye image and its density is what counts. Thus a standard b&w processing for a colour film of similar speed will not necessarily yield an optimum image, or same image as the respective b&w film.
With standard C-41 films you also will have to deal with a uniform orange colour, once intended to form the mask.

Yes as a very general question I would have thought that this occurs frequently enough that it makes sense for Photrio to have a standard article on this( not I hasten to add a thread in which we can all reply)

It might help those who need to know the very basic and can then ask specific questions or do a search

There are threads on pretty much every topic a newcomer might be interested in. So what? Are newer members supposed to only ask questions that might strike veterans of the forum as interesting?

Perhaps those veteran members would be better off simply ignoring threads they don't find interesting. I for one would surely appreciate it. Food for thought: film photography would have a much better chance of surviving on the long term if folks weren't so shitty to newcomers. Y'all are more hostile to newbies than surfers....

OP: using all black and white chemicals will yield a black and white negative, though probably a less interesting one than you'd get from a dedicated B&W film. But using a regular black and white fixer instead of the Blix (bleach+fix) in color kits will give an interesting look: high contrast and low saturation. Look up "bleach bypass" and you'll see a bit of what you can expect. It's something I've been meaning to try!

It is not a matter of finding something interesting, but a matter or repeatedly writig lengthy replies on same matter, when better resources are already available. But I admit finding these at Apug is a hassle due to a hardly working search function.

But as you yourself hardly posted in 17 years, you sure have more energy to guide the OP through his endeavour. And not just write "look up" as you just did...

I suggested that he look up what beach bypass images look like. That's hardly the same thing...
