B&H's Camera Museum is embarrassing

He said it himself many times before. He is the best street photographer there is on the planet.

Funny how @slackercrurster disappears from the thread when people start asking to look at his work. Personally I can't wait to get inspired by the world's best street photographer

I don't think he is the world's best street photographer, but I have been impressed with the photos he has posted. They are uniformly excellent. I still don't know why this museum thing has him so bent out of shape though.

In my mind that’s the only real question. I agree that his photography is wonderful. But that’s not the topic... except as it happened that the thread wandered.

it seems that almost every camera store I’ve ever been to has some old gear in a display case or on top of shelves. Some might even label them. Is the problem that B&H calls it a “museum” rather than calling it a “display” that is causing the kerfuffle? Considering that they are a retail store I’d be grateful for whatever they choose to doo in addition to selling us stuff.

To me, labeling the display as a "Museum" seems like a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun, not a serious designation. Do we think the OP is truly bothered by it, or are we just falling for something yet again.

Maybe B&H's museum isn't up to snuff because they are too busy with excellent customer service and very quick shipping on items I need ... err ... want.

I just wish that they would ship more chemicals.

I agree. This whole thing that a retail store of camera equipment should set up a museum is just silly. Do you know how much retail space costs in NYC? Also, when was the last time you went to a car dealer and they had a museum of autos of the past? How about a shoe store? The only time you see things from the past consistently is in a cemetery.

no clue what your photo upload has to do with "snapshot quality" photographs orythe OP 's claim's that the " camera museum" at b+h is pitiful ?
BTW i have read your posts before that your photograph was posted elsewhere without your permission.
years ago you used a different number and said it was lots more than your current estimate,
how you you know this?
was it uploaded with an electronic tracking watermark (digimark) so you could identify where it was being used ?
i've worked with and for people who did the same thing unfortunately, there are lot of "takers" in this world.

I have better things to do with my life than sit in front of a computer watermarking photographs to prevent theft. I solved the theft problem by not posting photographs. I will now draw a picture for you so that you will understand: If one only posts snapshots on the website, then they do not have to worry about their quality photographs being stolen. Hence explaining why most of the posted photographs are snapshot quality.

It's better than the photography museum at my local Walmart. Their's is just some expired 35mm Fuji film, a couple of one time use cameras and a whole bunch of selfie sticks. You have to know a guy to get back there to see it, because it's not anywhere near their digital camera gear. I bet you could purchase some of those relics, but no one has ever tried.

If you're a professional selling your photos,you'd have a site to see the pictures you're selling. Maybe they are small in resolution. Not really copyable but viewable. Why not post photos in similar resolution. If you're not selling your photos, why worry about "stealing".

Being able to see each others photos adds value to advice we give and makes our relationships stronger. Also, no one should ever feel their work is not up to snuff. None of us for the most part are pros, but amateurs trying to learn and get better. Even pros can learn a thing or too. No one's perfect. Discussing photography and showing your pictures allows us to learn more from each other and aid in recommendation we make. Of course, there's going to be the unhappy fellow who only gives negative comments., Screw them. Just learn from the people who want to help you get better.
