But back to the intent of the thread... if there are labor law violations and safety concerns I hope they get resolved soon. That alone does not influence my buying decisions, though.

The fact that they use undocumented workers is enough for me to think twice before using them again. It also lends credence to the accusations put forth in the article. Unfortunate.

Along the lines of racial intolerance and prejudice the fact someone brought up where the article originated says volumes. Al Jazeera by all accounts appears to be a legitimate factual news agency. Al Jazeera isn't a synonym for Al Qaeda.

What does influence my buying decisions is product availability. Things they won't ship me even though they stock them, like C-41 chemistry, I buy elsewhere.

I'm interested in seeing how this plays out. More often than not, the "employees" of a company do not work for them, but for a staffing firm that has been contracted to fill low level and entry positions. Do these people actually work for B&H or someone else such as Sperion? If the workers are undocumented, it most likely is because they are sub contractors in the employ of a staffing firm. As to the "13 hour shift" that is claimed, my guess the employee volunteered to work extra to earn more money to support the family here in the US plus send most of the pay back to Mexico. This is a well documented practice among illegals.

Poor Suzanne... And for once it's not even my fault.

Most of the time I'd trust reporting on Al Jazeera way more than I'd ever trust anything on the Prime time news channels, let alone trash
propaganda like Fox or similar cable media, regardless of being left or right oriented. But in this case there MIGHT be actual racial bias in
the mix against B&H. Retail gofer jobs never pay much anyway, esp in any city with a lot of desperate immigrants. I'm going to spend some serious money with B&H today. They've got what I want and have always provided top-notch service. So unless there is something factual about all this, and not just some malicious rumor, I intend to do business with them as usual. I'm very pro-labor. But before you go throwing stones, realize that if you happen to shop at WalMart, or Home Depot, or Office Depot, or deal with Amazon, you're already subsidizing labor practices that certainly aren't any better than these alleged things.

Which is why I grow my own food and shop local as much as possible. And I've not set foot in a WalMart after the dog food melamine poisoning event. Ordering online is for when I cannot get it any other way. Which is more than I'd like because I live in a rural area. If I must go big box it may as well be online.

I am half Syrian and can tell you al-jazeera is just as biased as other news organizations. However, there is one much-maligned news organization which actually does provide commentators and unfiltered viewpoints from many sides of today's issues, both pro and opposing, yet few of its apoplectic detractors actually watch it...

Regarding how people react to the media, Michael Crichton described the "Gell-Mann effect". You can find it described all over the internet, but here is one link:

Haven't I been a good boy on this thread?...
Absolutely not. As evidenced by that and

...I wonder if I am the only photographer these days who makes it a point to avoid doing business with the northeast or left coast, if possible. Admittedly, my own region is not much better.
All of which is prohibited politics BS.

I will wait until I can here from both sides reported by people without a dog in the fight.

From the sounds of folks here, B&H stands to loose dozens of dollars in used camera sales.

Sounds like you're describing Fox. But then, I don't have a TV, and there is no cable service out here. I do know all the rest of them are in the tank for their party. They're traded credibility for agenda. In fact, they seem to be agitators more than anything else.

Fox is not a news service. It is low brow entertainment for Neanderthals, and slow ones at that.

I am pretty sure they would answer something like "with our pockets full of money".

Sad. But probably true. Lots of sociopath individuals out there who do not give a shit about others.

Two of the responses here have demonstrated my point perfectly.

I'm done with this thread, as its value has gone to zero.
