I thought I would check out the web site as it's been a while. D76 is not shipping so I stopped browsing.

I decided to get one of the Bellamy Hunt (Japan Camera Hunter) 5 roll cases at Freestyle for my son since he likes that guy. I am putting 5 different B/W films in there that he would never buy because they cost to much. He gets other stuff also but I thought he would get a kick out of the Bellamy Hunt film case.

You live in a new exciting world in the U.S. which may get more exciting in the coming months. By comparison our U.K. retailers are as dull as dishwater acting in predictable fashion at all times.

Yeah a friend of mine who lives in the western part of Pennsylvania had an experience a few years ago when he was asked to show ID when purchasing some pipe cleaners! Use to be young kids twisted them into stick figures -- guess now they're drug paraphernalia or something.

They are commonly used as "fuses" in improvised explosive devices.

One of our members spoke to the difficulty in buying small plastic bags a while back. Apparently used for drugs. Not by him:smile:.

Im surprised in todays paranoid state why whipped cream in the can isn't banned or regulated? Its propellant is Nitrous Oxide.. laughing gas. never been proofed for that.. but have been proofed for canned air!

pipe cleaners as fuses?... what about timed fuses using a book of matches n a cig folded in it?... never been proofed getting matches.

are we getting so overly cautious that we are getting stupid about it?

Just ordered up a bunch of stuff from Photographer's Formulary. Free shipping right now on orders over $65. Great deal!

Both ID11 and D76 are powders, neither of which contains deadly powdered material as far as I know. In the unlikely event of accidental spillage while in transit no serious hazard arises, does it?

I wonder why they can't be shipped?

Nothing to do with DT is it?:D

I agree with no hazard to the B+W powder you can dispose of the used B+W chem. on your lawn and nothing will happen but maybe a better lawn

Do not complain. At least it is not about Kodachrome and how magenta is not a color!

Fellow friends:
I just love this thread. It's a gift that just keeps on giving!
First a major supplier of photographic chemicals (from a company I trust and recommend) decides in a change of shipping policy that effects all of us who live in fly-over country.
Then the supplier changes policy repeatedly, with no logic.
Add to that the Managements spokesperson, Mr Posner (who gave me great advise about a tripod many years ago, and whose opinion I trust), issues contradictory and bizarre statements on the shipping policy.
Mr. Posner comes across as a real New Yorker (hay, I'm standing here! you stupid or somenthin?? Go fu#$ urself!!) with a fu#$ you attitude that does not play well outside of New York City.
And I wonder why B&H has troubles with their union brothers and sisters with people like Posner in a management position?

Log story short - there are other supplies who will step in when B&H withdrawals from the market. No big deal. Life goes on. Business must be good at B&H to turn down business.
Maybe a cottage industry of sorts will spring up from some individual in NYC who will buy chemicals from B&H, and then ship them from UPS.

There is a shortage.

Since it comes in a pressurized container..... it is regulated as a pressurized container, no mater what is in it.

As is so often the case these days, a retailer abandons its customers, blows smoke for a couple of days and then slinks back out of sight, and customers, more disillusioned than ever, move on. Hopefully, people have better sense than to reward this kind of behavior with their continued business.

While there certainly are some exceptions - some of which are quite strange (like D76) - B & H seems to again be shipping a significant proportion of their black and white chemicals.

I was checking out prices on Freestyle and some of the film prices are cheaper than B&H! Maybe if Freestyle keeps their prices more competitive, they could generate new customers, more business from regulars, while still meeting, or surpassing their profit goals.

Who cares? I've been honked off at B&H for a long time over the "we'll ship this but not that" when their competitors will ship pretty much anything I want. I just buy from people who will meet my needs.

Exactly, that's what I try to do. I have a small camera store chain here that I stopped using. I've actually had sale's associates laugh when I ask anything about film, darkroom supplies etc. The last time they had Dektol, I had to buy a five gallon box, and they had know idea what to charge me. They looked/shopped online for a price!!!

I don't mind paying for shipping. I don't mind paying more for service. I'll just order more items to offset the shipping. But order less often.

Roger,
I have a good one for you, I order a lot of woodworking tools from Highland Woodworking in Atlanta, GA. The last two orders were for large, heavy tools. The manufacturer is located 20 miles from me, but they manufacture everything over seas, and don't sell direct to the customer. So I place my order at H.W. in Atl, they receive my order from up here, then ship it back to me here. For this, I get charged $100 for shipping! So $10 for a darkroom/film order is awesome
