I ordered some B&W developer a couple of weeks ago. Today I went to do the same thing just to find out that a lot of chemicals are now in store only pick up. Anybody know what's up? I remember this being an issue in 2016.

Everyone is shopping online. I suspect that it's a matter of distribution and supply. B&H is dealing with the virus. Trying to keep workers safe and feeling secure. I have noticed Adorama is doing drop shipping on some US products.
This seems to happen around the Holiday rush every year. Before it's over we will be making our own D-76

They might have separate locations for store stock and for shipping, and be out in the shipping location. Maybe?

I talked with B&H about this and they say it is a carrier restriction and they have nothing to do with it. However, they did not know if this restriction was going to be in effect for a while or not.

Freestyle is still shipping all chemicals as normal.

UPS ground isn't a problem, from anyone else. I think it's just a combination of business decisions, UPS probably gives them a better deal if certain items aren't shipped especially when things are so nuts.

I haven’t seen B&H ship to my area with UPS in over a year. They have been using FedEx. Maybe it’s a combination of carrier restrictions or something else completely.

At least I can still get chemicals shipped from other vendors until B&H starts shipping again.

Does not California have some of the strictest chemical safety laws in the world, and certainly the US? I guess its odd that I can order as much Rodinol or E6 chemicals from freestyle or a number of other sites as my heart desires but B&H has had them as a non-shipable hazard to my area for as long as I can remember. Though, Freestyle rarely offers free shipping on the other hand...

The very fact that B&H will ship one liquid film developer but not another and that the thread is reduced to having to speculate what this reason or reasons is/are suggests that the actual reason for this puzzling decision remains obscure and is likely to remain that way.

It would seem to me that this will damage B&H's credibility unless there is a good reason for this decision and I cannot believe that B&H has not reached the same conclusion in terms of potential damage. So whatever the explanation is, then it may be that revealing that explanation is considered by B&H to be even more damaging to its reputation.

I've never noticed that B&H a broad prohibition on shipping liquid chemicals. Rather, they appear not to ship ORM-D restricted products. Further a cursory look at what does and does not ship seems to indicate that 5l liquids are often restricted. When I run into this with B&H, I wind up buying from Freestyle. For example, Rodinal has always been for in store pick up at B&H, but Freestyle sells the same, but with ORM-D restrictions.

It is not in B&H's interest to send business to Freestyle, therefore, I conclude that B&H faces additional restrictions because of shipper contracts or local ordinances.

Probably due to the terms of the special deal they have with the shipping companies they use when they offer their favourable "free shipping" to customers.
An example of TANSTAAFL
(which makes me think of PE:sad:)

Not a big deal to me because I ended up purchasing something else but DDX is still available for in-store pickup only here.

So unless this advert is older than the time to which wyofilm refers or it is tailored to being able to distinguish where the user is when navigating the site and we know for definite that some areas of the U.S. are covered by an "OK to ship" then it would seem that things are still confused

Tunnel restrictions? WAG, since I don't remember if one takes a tunnel between NYC and Philadelphia.
