This seems like the right place to put this...I've been teaching at a college for around a year now, part-time, and I just got around to setting up my official e-mail address. One of the first things I did was sign up for B&H's education program, thinking I could maybe get some sort of deals eventually. They even say free shipping on most orders! Unfortunately, I have noticed neither discounts on anything nor free shipping. Am I doing something wrong? My account does say that my education status is verified/activated/whatever.

All I really want is to not have to order $50 worth of film to avoid shipping costs...

Go to the source, call them and ask.

$50 is only 5-7 rolls of film, depending on what film you buy.

Why not ask B&H directly?

Yeah, I'll call on Monday and see. But god, Hunt's...affordable developing but everything else is ridiculous. All of their film is approximately 20% more expensive than the average. A 5-pack of Portra 400 is $50-53 in most places, but $65 at Hunt's!

Yeah, there isn’t a good forum for this kind of question, but “Classifieds: Misc” is for buying and selling non-photographic items, so thread moved to “Industry News.”

Check out Freestyle in L.A. They’re well-oriented toward educators and students, and they’re a Photrio partner.

Our EDU program discounts are supported by the brands which have chosen to participate. Some have not and for those we cannot offer any EDU discount prices. Our EDU program managers reach out to various brands regularly soliciting participation. We regret when those efforts are fruitless and regret your dissatisfaction. We offer free non-rush shipping to locations in the "lower-48" for thousands of products and offer free shipping with an order of more than $49 for thousands more. I presume you're aware you have to use your EDU login and password to access program specials. -- Henry Posner / B&H Photo-Video
