B&H (Dumping?) Fujichrome close date. Reason for Ektachrome Delay?

For those who may be curious about expiation dates, I just got some Provia 100F from B&H Photo, dated June of 2020.

Truth is slide film has been on the verge of extinction ever since magazines and pros stopped using slides. PE said it many times, E6 is a dead man walking. That is precisely why Kodak new Ektachrome is so important. Only Kodak can generate a buzz so big across all media around the world which may ignite a new interest for slide film (including cross-processing it in C41) among current film users and potential new curious ones. Add to this Kodak's plan to encourage the use of film in motion picture schools through easy access to Super 8 and 16 mm color reversal film stock in order to get a new generation of future filmmakers to learn and appreciate to use film. The future of all Kodak films is at stake. That's why I think we here, of all people, should be very supportive and enthousiastic about what Kodak is doing these days.

Stored reasonably well, that should be good for another decade before you start seeing noteworthy degradation.

I emailed B&H with this question about the Velvia that expired in March 2018 and was told it was not refrigerated.

Kodak as brand is already unknown to young people.
And think of all that hype an virgin manufacturer consisting of a handful of people as The Impossible Project succeeded to generate.

Arguing whether E6 is about to die or not won't help it, what will is go out to your shop and get some fresh Velvia and Provia, and enjoy the beautiful results on a projector. We are lucky enough to be receiving a new E6 film, so its important to keep the labs supporting it.

At least in the past the markets for reversal films were different, with Germany a stronghold. And people still can get 2020 dated reversal films at any town.
Of course I have to emphasize "still"...

As reported here in this thread, some film stock was short dated, other film stock was fresh yet quickly out of stock. Selective reading may highlight some interesting factlets, which may or may not fan the intended controversy, but it hardly draws the complete picture.

B & H has been selling short dated Fujichrome since early this spring. That's not intended to be controversial, it is simply a statement of fact.

Or that current sales are not what they once were. E6 sales have been tepid at best and may have taken another leg lower during this year. This would cause inventory to build up in an unexpected manner.

Or a customer reneged on a big order and left B&H holding a bunch of excess inventory.

for many years in the 1960'sand 70's that was Freestyles Business model. the fine print in their ads always said "Items not marked {Fresh} are outdated but fully guaranteed"

I rather think that the term "Kodak" is communicated pretty well by more experience shooters to the new shooters, in fond and rose-colored terms.

Kodak may e communicating to a contemporary user, a remnant of the consumer dominated markets of 2000, but active and interested. How about using Kodak 8mm in school and later in advanced professional productions. s scu: planting the seeds of future markets; as the early days of Kodak Moments. Is Kodak that far-sited?
