Sorry if this is old topic , but B&H will not ship LD20 to Canada, but is there away around this, for example one of my clients walking in the store purchasing the bottles then going to Fed X to ship to me.

That simple????

or is there other suppliers of LD20 that will ship into Canada... Argentix only has 2 bottles, I need 8 for the project I am doing this month.

Bob,

The problem is that LD20 is classified ORM-D, a low-level hazmat category. This means a US seller can only ship it via UPS ground and only within the continental US. B&H's web site says they won't ship it at all, in-store pickup only. Freestyle will ship it but shows it as out of stock with delivery expected 9 June. Can you get it shipped to a US address and carry it across? I don't know what issues beside customs you might encounter in doing that...

That sucks- I do not know anyone in Buffalo the closest to us. But maybe my client does thanks for that.

Bob, there are companies in Buffalo that buy the product for you have it shipped to their location in Buffalo and then re-send to you across the border. Not sure if that works with hazmat but it is worth a try. I used such a company for a purchase few years ago and it worked very well.
I don't remember the name right now and I'm at work, just search

You might also want to ask Argentix how fast they can get more stock and send it to you. I just did this for another chemical. They were able to restock pretty quickly.
I am already on that, Jacques is looking for me, but I am trying to have a backup plan.

same thing for Pyrocat concentrate. Can get PMK shipped but not Pyrocat, HD or MC. Only powdered. If Argentix or FilmPlus could get it, I'd be chuffed.

I've had Pyrocat-MC in Glycol shipped to Canada direct from the Formulary. I've also bought it through Beau Photo in Vancouver. I'm sure Jacques at Argentix could get it for you as well.

Out are way, there are a whole bunch of businesses just over the border in the US whose entire business is receiving shipments in the US for Canadian customers. They then cross the border, pick up the items and then import them themselves.
The problem for Bob is that the subsequent importation would need to be a commercial importation - complex and arcane paperwork, taxes and duties!

Call up the home office in the UK. They show 5 L size packages available. Maybe they will sell direct.

We live in a complex and weird world these day with product , distribution. the current system we work with does not allow this option.

Adorama list 27 pages of Slavich, I tried to buy and was told Slavich was not available for sale in USA.. I asked the silly question why do you list 27 pages of the shit if you can't sell it.

Manufacturers cannot sell direct to end client, thats what Distributers are for... funny though none of the distributers these days stock the product one needs, with the exception of B&H who always seem to have the product, but when I try to buy LD20 they say store pick up only ,which begs the question
if you do not stock the product or can't ship the product, then why be the middleman and let the client buy direct.

I think we will find in Canada here a reversal in Manufacturer to end user , we are already seeing snippets of this where Manufacturers do have a online service.. I just don't think we are there quite yet..

Try buying anything over one box and you are in a quandary. It is a common problem for me, I use so many products and I am not wealthy enough to stock all I have in 6 month volumes. Also its impossible today in the printmaking market to predict what job is coming next.
I have done no film in 2017 - yes 6 months but within 2 months I will do 10 days of process with one job.
Silver printing is sporadic and can you imagine how gum printing and Pt Pd printing needs come and go. Impossible to predict and that is what the distributers ask you to do and my crystal ball is always wrong.

re: Slavich. B&H has it but it doesn't qualify for free shipping when you go over the $99 thresh hold. They couldn't tell me why it wasn't included since it's on their website, but it showed as drop shipping from Wyoming. It was in my basket then pulled out as I was kind of annoyed. Looked for Slavich at Adorama as well but shipping cost about as much as the paper. Freestyle no longer sells it either. Was going to get Pyrocat from Formulary when I had more stuff to order.

tried them, no paper available.

which Slavich you looking for Bob ? Doesn't seem to be a stocked item but only Special Order. I'd like to know who has it in Wyoming so I can just go straight to them and cut out the middleman.

Bernadette is the source and she needs two months ... so basically we are looking at a situation that is not healthy - product advertised but no supply available.
I think its a matter of time with e commerce that the manufacturers will need to sell direct and ship.

It would be pricey, but Silverprint in London offers worldwide shipping for certain chemicals, including LD20.
Update

Silver print was very helpful, all product in stock and willing to ship to Canada three days... Yippie a very good source
I did find a lab in Buffalo to accept product from within the USA which I can pickup (hour drive) pay duties and customs and bring back
B&H has most product I need and I can have a friend in New York pick up and ship by Fed X- good friend who travels a lot so this is my third option.

not very impressed with the last two days of trying to source out Material for our Needs.... I think its going to end up a Manufactures responsibility not
to set up non stocking distributers and take on the the role of shipping world wide. just my simple take on being a Canadian trying to purchase product.
I cannot imagine the headaches people from remote regions go through to get this stuff.

Hi,
Have you tried Henry's in Toronto? You can also shop on Ebay.
I have a good relationship with Henrys, but I can tell you our analoque needs are not on their purchasers list.. probably for good reasons..
