In a German forum it is said that the Kentmere 100 & 400 film will be phased out of the German market. Does anyone know, especially Simon, if this phase out will also happen in other markets and why this is done? Here in Italy in the last year the availability of the Kentmere films was sometimes quite poor and now you can also see more and more the Ilford Pan 100 & 400 appearing at the online shops.

The good news is I'm trained to do CPR...
You use the pan as well?
If there is only pan at the same price point I'll use pan, if they stop both i'll use more Foma.

You use Foma as well...

Sorry, I don't read German. Saw a bad translation, but couldn't really understand a word.
I'm sure that Mirko knows a lot of the film industry, but he doesn't work for Harman.

Yes, Noel, I use the Pan films and will be glad for them.
And Silverprint sells them at same price point. By mail you can have bulk film at about the same price as Fomapan 400 plus delivery charges.
ANd I use Foma films as well.

to summarize the thread, Marko said they will launch two films branded CHM100 and CHM400 as a replacement for Kentmere 400 and 100 which were discontinued by the German distributor. It sounds if this (the discontinuation) is a decision by the German distributor and I would not draw any conclusions regarding other markets. If you don't have access to K100/K400, the Rollei RPX100/400 or Agfaphoto (new, current) APX100/400 should work as very close replacement with identical processing times (as the upcoming CHM100/400)

It was not my intention to shock someone. I was only curious if this will impact also other markets beside the German one.

Well I tried to change the title, but I can only change my first entry, not the title. Maybe the admin can help?

What the thread could do with is a post from Simon Galley and based on his responses to-date I'd expect one within a day or so.

I'm sure that Mirko knows a lot of the film industry, but he doesn't work for Harman.

Mirco stated:

that he was informed (seemingly from Harman or their importer) that Kentmere branded films no longer will be distributed in Germany.

that lately importer's price for Kentmere was higher than Fotoimpex' retail price.

that they offer that film as "Fotoimpex CHM" type-135 in their shop.

KENTMERE Film is a highly successful film, it is for sale in Germany, it will remain for sale in Germany.

Just talked to phototec/Nordfoto (big online retailer) here in Germany and they say they had do discontinue Kentmere 400 in 36 exp rolls, because it is not available from their distributor any more. They will continue to offer the film in bulk or 24 exp rolls, however. If I cannot find a different source for K400, I will probably switch to one of the alternatives, as I am not a big fan of short rolls or bulk film.

That said in one of the discussion,

'RPX 100, K100 und APX new 100 sind gleich...' - piu58(http://forum.fotoimpex.de/index.php?showtopic=3312&p=18248) and if this is true then I do not really care about the brandnames anymore.

You can add the new CHM100 to the list, but it is interesting that Mirko said that they will not sell it under the ADOX label, as in the future they want to restrict the Adox brand to films that were at least partly manufactured in-house, which is not the case with CHM100/400. This (the branding policy) was of course different in the past.

Right, I am going to be a bit controversil, but anything that person that goes by the name of piu58 has to say about Kentmere films is suspicious.
He doesn't work for Harman.

Dear Simon,

Thank you for avoiding an heart attack!

Yes, but nevertheless we got contrary statements from Harman (Simon) and one of their major customers (Mirko).

Uwe

We all know that RPX, New APX and the Kentmere films are all very, very similar. No need to play the same record every time.
I like them and I can't see difference. RPX and Kentmere can be had in the UK at the same price.

Just for clarification - I wrote (in German of course):

RPX 100, K100 and APX new 100 are the same material, as far as I can see. The same is valid for K400 and APX new 100. RXP 400, however is a different type and requires different processing times.

Die first batch of RPX 400, many years ago, was a cancelled custom emulsion at Ilford. Maco bought the material and converted it to RPX 400. This material fits very well with the SUPR PXD push developer. K400 does not have this property. At this time, Maco did not plan a second batch of RPX 400.

Some years later RPX 400 was available again. With the recipe known at Ilford, Maco could order the material again. To complete it’s choice of films Maco added RPX 100, which is a close relative to K100 at least. The RPX 25 however had nothing to do with Ilford/Harmann. It is an aerial film, a total different type of emulsion.
