Very sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but I'm travelling to Bangkok in a couple of weeks and am wondering whether anyone knows of any good analog photo shops there. I'm also wondering what the price and availability of used medium format gear is there compared to the U.S. Many thanks for your help.

If your looking for a medium format system, im selling a very full bronica ETR set if your interested, but other than that i shop online when buying used, its rare to come across any analog photo stores that arent charging too much for their equipment

There's a big camera store whose name escapes me on the ground floor level of Mahboonkrong Center (MBK Centre as most folks will refer to it). They have lots of used film gear. I can't say that their prices are good or bad - if memory serves they were slightly below US second-hand market prices, but not so much a savings that it would have been worth the trip.

Thanks guys. I'll poke around Mahboonkrong Center and see if I can find it. Not looking for anything in particular, but wouldn't mind seeing some stuff in person, especially if it's older and reasonably priced.

Looking very much forward to the trip. Not sure what cameras to bring with me yet. The 4x5 will almost certainly stay home, as it just seems too cumbersome for the amount of travel we'll be doing. Don't want to bring the Rolleiflex for fear of having it pilfered (it was my dad's and I'm pretty sentimental about it). Will probably take a Perkeo II that's in the shop right now and an F100 with a zoom lens. Any thoughts are welcome.

Just in case someone else needs this info, there are 4 shops in the MBC in Bangkok. Two of them (on the 1st floor) have some used analog equipment, but I wasn't at all impressed with the condition they were in and the prices were significantly worse than KEH. For those of you interested in the D-word, there is a huge store specializing in high-end D equipment on the 4th floor if I recall correctly. Thanks for everyone's help.

For anyone thinking about taking a similar trip, Bangkok was very interesting, the markets make for great photo ops. Also went to Chiang Mai for some temple-hopping (bring fast film, I didn't have as much as I would have liked). Also went to Cambodia. You could make a career out of photographing the temples at Angkor Wat, just amazing. Finally returned to Thailand, in the Krabi area. Nicest beaches I've ever seen. Incredible seascapes and the clouds always seem to cooperate. This last one is highly highly recommended.

I once found a few shops selling used analog stuff in Chinatown, along Charoen Krung road.
