Is this stuff available anywhere? I have a few boxes of the regular efke IR820c from freestyle - I'm talking about the aura version without the antihalation layer. I've heard about / thought about washing it off before shooting, but that's obviously annoying.

Have you thought instead of placing a high-reflective layer (eg. aluminium foil) on the pressure plate/in the film holder?

No longer in production. It really only worked for 35mm, as the highlights in MF and LF are barely noticeable, since they're so small.

Ah, okay. I got nice highlight aura with 4x5 kodak highspeed IR, but you know where that went.

I should be able to get hold of a box of 4x5 aura if you're that eager. PM me.

If anyone has any Maco Aura 120, I'll trade anything for it, even my granny.

If you are talking about the 4*5 version, IMHO don't bother...I did some testing with the AURA film and I could not get a real halo effect.. I tried aluminum foil, acetate film, white paper behind the AURA film: no effect. I even obtained a glass plate holder, and put a glass plate behind the film: again no halo effect.

Only heavy over exposure gives a hint of a halo. (but than you have to deal with very dense highlights)

Best,

Cor

Hello Walter,

at Photokina in September they told me at the Maco/Rollei-Film booth that a similar film is on the way, introduction next year.

This film will be very similar to the old aura film. Without antihalation layer and produced by Fotokemika in Croatia like the former film.

Best regards,
Henning

I shot some of the new aura this week. Exposes the same as the IR820c. Long exposures, very contrasty, a bit grainy, and very beautiful.
