The Wall Space Gallery has swiftly organized an auction called, Life Support Japan, in order to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity who will be involved in rebuilding efforts after last week's powerful earthquake, and to Direct Relief International for medical supplies and support.

She has asked photographers to donate an edition of 10 prints to be offered at $50 each. I've donated my picture Weed to this cause.

Crista is asking other galleries around the country to hold "in gallery" events, and the Jennifer Schwartz Gallery in Atlanta is planning a silent auction for March 19th. I've donated an 11x14 matted print of my picture Waves to this auction as well.

Hope you'll think about bidding or possibly donating. It's being organized via a Facebook Group. All relevant links as follows:

Shameless bump, if I may... they've added more prints to the online auction through the Wall Space Gallery. I've sold 5 of my prints, and would love to see the edition sell out... link in the post above at the Wall Space Gallery Life Support Japan Auction

The "in gallery" silent auction to be held on Saturday at the Jennifer Schwartz Gallery in Atlanta is looking beautiful. Absentee e-mail bids will be accepted on Saturday.

If you are inclined, make a bid, and help to raise money for aid to Japan.

Also for someone who would like to donate for the same reason, there is a group in flickr where photographers donate their pictures(here).

I submitted my photo in this group. You can see it here.

How it works:
You donate the winning amount of the "auction" to any relief action, for example:

Save the Children

World Vision

Google Crisis Response

After the donation, the photographer prints and sents the photo to the winner's address at his own expense, so the whole winning amount go to charity.

I will buy one myself, a good picture for a good reason..

Just a bump... Life Support Japan has four galleries of auctions, and they've raised $45,000 so far. I think there will be more prints available next week... all are priced at $50, and are a special edition of ten prints no larger than 8.5"x11". There are still prints available, though the window for submitting prints to offer for sale has has closed. They set a goal of $50,000 for the fundraiser, and I think they'll do it!! Funds will benefit Direct Relief International, and Habitat for Humanity, Japan. I bought several prints, and was pleased to sell out my edition of my picture Weed.
