A few days ago, fellow APUG member KJSPHOTO, Kevin Saitta's family was in a serious car accident and badly injured. His wife suffered sever injures, along with his younger daughter who received serious head injuries as well. She suffered severe trauma to the head and had to be helicoptered from the accident scene to receive emergency sugery to her face and head. Along with the costs of medical bills, the helicopter and more, they also totaled their car in the accident.

I'm sure I don’t need to tell you how expensive all of this cost, but I can tell you its many thousands of dollars of debt.

I am asking that any APUGGER'S who know Kevin or are willing to help out, please make a donation in his care. Being the Holiday's, this is a terrible thing to have happen to his family and I hope all of you are willing to help them out abit.

All PayPal donations can be made to Kevin's email address of kev@kconcept.com PayPal is free to use and you can send money using a credit card if you want. go to www.PayPal.com and you just click SEND MONEY and enter the email address and your info.

You can also send check/money order to the following PO box.
Kevin Saitta
P.O. Box 320
Groveland, CA 95321

Also, To encourage more people to help out, I will donate several of my prints to this cause. Anyone who make a donation of more then $75.00 to help Kevin and his family back on their feet will receive a recent, mounted 8x10 AZO print from my APUG gallery. All you have to do is make the donation to his PayPal account and forward me the email showing that you did.

Please help out a fellow APUG member and his family out in a time of need.

Thank you kindly,

Ryan McIntosh

Thanks for the information Ryan, I can't imagine what Kevin's going through right now. I'm sure many of us will do whatever we can to help. If anyone wants me to do something on a sitewide level just let me know. Sean

Time to step up, people... Ryan - thanks for heading this up. I don't know Kevin well, but I can't possibly imagine what he and his family must be going through. Please help, if you can...

I've sent in the last 4, 1yr subscription payments. It's not much in the scheme of things but hopefully things will add up in Kev's account..

If Sean is going to set up some sort of central collection, I'll happily contribute. However I'm curious as to why Kevin's having to pay for all this- is it not covered by auto insurance normally?

Depends on the coverage he carried on the auto, often times extrodinary measures as they are called here in the US are not covered by your auto policy.

Mark, here in the states insurance coverage is set in increments. There is coverage for many things, liability, personal property, collision damage, glass and medical coverage. Some things are covered and some are not. For example, an ambulance ride may be covered, while an air evacuation (thousands of dollars at times, due to distance and location) might not be. The coverage for medical is usually paid on a per-incident basis with an upper limit. With the cost of a serious accident and multiple injuries, limits can be exceeded in short order if severe trauma or plastic surgery is necessary.

Our prayers go out to Kevin and his family. Christmas is coming folks, lets try to help as we are able, each in their own way. tim curry & family

Kevin's website is www.kjsphotography.com, and he has fine prints, "wall art" produced I'm guessing by some mysterious process not discussed on APUG, and posters, priced for every budget. Might I suggest that we all head over there to do at least some of our holiday shopping.

I know that Kev's family has had a rough year, but this is just to much.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Kev.

Along with a monetary donation, I too will offer a Matted/Mounted print to anyone who donates $50 or more.

I think that's a great idea Ryan and I challenge others to follow your lead.

Jim

Thanks everyone.

I failed to mention that Kevin has a very nice website where he sells his fine prints and more for VERY reasonable price. Kevin does some very nice work and his prints are VERY high quality made. It could also help him out if anyone purchased a print or some of the great stuff he has on his site. He is also making film holder bags, lens bags, and more that can be found under the classified. It may take him a short while to get the packages out to you, but it will be well worth it.

I am sending Kevin a check today, I'd do paypal but I've promised my husband I will cut down of credit card purchases. I'm sure if my family were in this horrible situation, I would so appreciate my fellow APUG'ers caring enough to show our concern in a meaningful way. I wish a speedy recovery to his family.

I would buy a print or two but if Kevin must take time to make prints to 'earn' these donations it may be counter productive to him. There are many prints on his site that I would be proud to own but maybe this isn't the time to ask him to make prints. Perhaps a simple donation with no strings attached is in order and more in keeping with his needs right now.

FYI Kevin has had a very bad time for quite a few years. He like so many lost his computer related job and has been scrambling every since. He has limited resources. His wife also before this had/has a serious illness. The Kevin we all know is a person driven to succeed. He has never asked us for help before, he just keeps plugging away doing what he can to support his family. He is not asking now, but we who do know him are asking for him. This accident is just the last and most stressful of a long line of incidents that have tried to break a valient man.

I will kick in Free 1 year subscriptions to the next 10 people who donate at least $75 to Kevin and his family. PM me with you donation reciept from paypal. Beware though McPhotox, Jim Moore and I all talk a lot in the chatroom so we can cross reference who is getting what. We want the rewards to be shared equally.

If anyone donates $150 (one person I only have one extra easel) I will also (I can't beleive I will give this up) 2 boxes of postcard stock, I adjustable two bladed 5x7 easel for the postcards, and my one bottle unopened of rodinal.

Lets consider this for a minute. It is a good intention but I doubt Kevin might be in the mood and/or capable of printing right now. IMO it is better to just send a donation and for those of us who are able to print at the moment to offer our prints in his behalf.

I talked to Kevin lastnight, and he is such a humble, genuine man that he said even people buying prints from his site would be a huge help. He is trying, like many of us, to make a living at doing his photography, so purchasing prints would help out also.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped him out so far. Lets all get in the Christmas giving spirt and help a family out at a time of need!

Thanks for passing this along. I'm going to keep him and his family in my prayers, and I'll see what I can do to help him in other ways as well.

I only seem to be able to purchase ("Add" to cart link) posters. How do you purchase a print?

I sent him an e-mail. I also told him there's no rush, and whenever he gets to it is fine.

Some of the categories don't seem to have the "add" feature on. "Landscape B&W" does not. This is the first category, and one which would attract many APUGers.

The following appear to have the "add" feature (and some very nice images!)

"Panoramic Color"

"Panoramic B&W"

"Seascapes Color"

"Americana Color"

"Americana B&W"

"Landscapes Color"

I sent a paypal for $75. And I am going to take Bryan up on his offer, which was very generous of him. I didn't need the enticement, but I like his work...so thanks Bryan, way to step up.

I would also ask any of you that are interested to send me a jpeg of your scanned signatures if you have them and I'll lay out an appropriate card with all the sigs we can then send on behalf of APUG'rs if that sounds feasible. I'd like to send that early next week or asap.

Send to mpblais@mpbcs.com

Kudos to all who have contributed.

Just submitted an order--

He has a lot of B&W work I really like. It helps that the Sierras are my favorite place in the world. I've done a lot of fly-fishing on the Tioga and Sonora Passes, as well as the eastern Sierra.

However, prints of Yosemite are always a hit with my mom...
