Arrgh: My SBC just ate another battery!

Having long ago worn out its original case (the meter was a Christmas gift from my late parents in 1980), I have taken to storing/carrying my SBC in the top compartment of my Lowe bag that carries my Hasselblad kit. Problem, however, is that it has a tendency to move around, often times being turned on as a result. Back when I first started in photography, a company called Zone V made holsters for various meters that allowed then to be carried in a holster worn on one's belt; I can't recall, however, if one was available for the SBC. Zone V is no longer in business from what I understand; Calumnet Camera apparently purchased the concern. Checking on Calumet's website, however, provides no information. Any alternatives that folks have used to pack around this meter?

My Gossen LunaLux SBC still resides in the case and eats the 9 volt batteries regularly. I just carry spare batteries for it.

Make an insert for that Lowe bag from card- or better foamboad that accepts that meter without play.

Zone VI made a leather case for the old Luna Pro which made it useful for me. The SBC is even larger and more clumsy.

I used a Lowe Street & Field #10 case for my Digipro and Sekonic Norwood meters— also have one for my Rollei 35T. If you could find a Street & Field #20, it should fit your SBC.
Failing that, Domke make a belt case that should fit.

Easy solution - Remove the batteries after use. Not only will it keep the batteries from dying, it'll reduce the chance of corrosion.

That wears down the contacts and takes all the sport out of using the SBC meter.

thats weird... my sbc has the same battery for the past 3 years.

if possable, connect a vom milli amp meter to see if its drawing current while off?
