We need to make an around the world camera express version. Everyone has 60 minutes to take a picture from the time they receive the box and mails it out federal express that day.

Look at it this way, Camera 6 will contain a historical record of the early half of the 21st Century :D

We should bury it with a plaque above it: "Film not to be processed until 3000 AD".

If the historians ever get hold of it.. we may just be able to bury it.. but it's akin to the holy grail at this stage!

And Tim.. that almost sounds like a fairy tale....

I got a PM from Walter23 and he's ready to send the camera off so we're ready to roll again. I think perhaps I need to mail a small bull-whip to every remaining member of the group so that we can keep the camera moving from here on..

Can I hear a communal whip crack away?

:D

Speaking of whips and chickens...

This project is like herding chickens with a 12 foot bull (pullet?) whip.

Lots of squawk and not much substance.

Oh, you thought I was talking about camera 6?

Sorry. I was thinking of the engineers on the production floor here.

Would anyone be willing to travel in the envelope with the cameras?
You could bring that aforementioned whip and we may just get this home by Christmas...

A curious story...

A few weeks ago I bought a Sure Shot 130u from a seller on ebay, who then sent it to a customer in Canada by misteak. The Canadian received the package and sent it back to me a little over a week ago. (The hilarious part is the seller is just 30 miles north of me!) I'm thinking there's something cursed about Sure Shots in the Canadian Post.

Maybe the curse isn't on the Sure Shots or the Canadian post... :surprised:  :munch:

From now on... the camera will be sent to the HQ of the RCMP and the said photographic instrument will be hand carried across the Canadian tundra by said RCMP offeeecer by dawg sled to each and every Canadian participant. The said participant will have 25 minutes to select, compose, and shoot his and/or her image...

Tough love?

Ya brought it upon yerselves.

I'm confused...(too many bumps on the head tonight)...is Walter the last known person to have had the camera in hand? Has he sent it yet? Maybe it's tied up in U.S. customs for all we know.

I like the idea that by the time this round comes to a close, we won't have the foggiest idea of what we took a picture of in the first place.

On a serious note, I know that people are eager to get the camera, but pressure is a funny thing, especially when you have one shot to take an image based on a theme. I could have taken any number of good pictures easily within a day or two, but trying to focus on a "cornerstone" (whatever that is) and have a decent shot come out meant that it took longer than anticipated to get something that I was happy with. Perhaps in the future we could be clear about time limits from the beginning, or have an optional theme, or send several cameras based on geographical areas (not that that's helped us much in this case) with photographers shooting 2 or more pictures in each camera, or have a camera with a limited number of frames (12 on 120 film) for the round. Just some ideas from a LASOC newbie.

Now, time to get back to the whips and entrails...

I always took 'cornerstone' to be optional, as in if I don't have something pertinent ready to go when the camera gets here (I don't) then I'll shoot something else, taking care not to be too haphazard about it.

Lets All Shoot One Camera rather loses its meaning if we send a camera to Europe, a camera to North America, a camera to the Pacific, and so on, but I like the idea of signing on half as many people and giving us all TWO shots. The round should (!) go faster, and the next round can happen sooner. But then, like you, I'm a LASOC noob.

The idea of Cornerstone was the ambiguity of the concept. I do like your ideas, we can take them to their mathematical extreme and I'll shoot 12 images, I'll send it to Sister Sile so she can shoot 12 images and we will let you know how it comes out.

All kidding aside, we have thought of that. It's just that too many people want to participate. The camera travel format is a choice of compromise.

It is Walter23 that had the camera(s) last.. and the PM I received from him on the 24 February said he would get it on it's way.. I'll send him another quick nudge to see if that helps somewhat..

Rachelle I completely see where you're coming from with the difficulty of a theme as such.. however the last travelling camera we had went out in October 2007 returned to the mother ship (aka Tim) in March 2009. It took a year and a half. It had 20 members and everybody got to take 2 shots, if they wished.. This round we have 28 members across the world to take just 1 photo, 8 more people but technically 12 less photos.

The decision to make it a themed round was taken after much discussion about how difficult it was to think of something to take a photo of.. so those leaving round 5 and heading into round 6 thought this would be much easier for everyone.. The fickle finger of blame points directly at them.. myself included!

As for timing.. it says inside the travelling box "Please be considerate of others on the list and do not keep the camera for a long period of time, the sooner everyone takes the picture and sends it on, the sooner we see results!"

I guess no matter how well you cover all your bases.. this is never going to run smoothly.. but the more we all crack our whips and cook chickens.. the better for us all!

Now Tim.. I like that idea of getting a camera and taking 12 photos each.. how about you find me a nice camera take some pictures and then send it to me :D
