Is anybody out there using an Aristo VCL4500 system? I use one on my Beseler 45MX and lately I've noticed that when turning the dial to adjust contrast, the display jumps around a bit between various contrast levels until it finally settles on a number. Is this normal? I'll admit, the dial has always been "sensitive" when trying to nail a 1/10 level number, but I don't remember seeing this other thing. But, it has been a couple of years since I used it regularly so, maybe, the 'ole gray matter just ain't recalling properly.

Thanks for the help.

I use the system with the Beseler. I have used it since early 1990s. I have gone through three of them. They start dying after awhile. I have never had the issue you describe but I can get it to a spot on the dial that it constantly goes back and forth between numbers. I think it is the control unit that usually goes off. Mine became inconsistent.

I mothballed mine since I got into Alt. processes, but I'm planning to bring it out once again (I first must move a cupboard over, so that I can accommodate my Fujimoto...which has to be counter mounted). Anyways, when the head was doing that, it would fluctuate between a couple of settings, then settle and stop. I remember that it seemed to have fixed itself before I mothballed it... Hopefully it won't start up again!

...I should probably bring the head and control unit out, plug it all in and see if it's okay, before I install the enlarger... 🤔

Thanks for the feedback.

Did a bit of printing this morning and, perhaps strangely (tough I'm happy), it's not doing the same today. It will jump a bit before settling on a contrast setting, but it always did this. Overall, though, the head is working as expected which makes me a happy camper!
