Over the weekend I developed 5 rolls of Arista Premium 100 ISO. The negatives look great, good density, clarity, etc. As an aside, I also noticed that the 100 ISO film is very thin in comparison to it's 400 ISO brother.

However the manufacturing marks on the outside of the frames shows very faint. I followed the exact development times for F76, 68F, 5.5 minutes, all good...strange how the actual negatives are very good yet the "Arista Premium" markings above each frame (and frame numbers too) are very faint.

Now this is not the case with Arista Premium 400 ISO (Tri-X)...when developed the markings are bold, clear and normal.

Has anyone else encountered this with their usage of ISO 100 AP? Perhaps this is not an issue?

Edge markings don't really tell you much. To be honest, I think they only tell you that you poured developer before fixer. What matters is the negative itself and how it prints. Take for example the case of pull processing. The edge marking have taken a specific exposure, but you may expose your film according to taste. If you want to expose more, you'll probably develop less, so edge markings will have lower density.

Anon, if it matters, I shot that 100 ISO film with exposure compensation of 1.5 to 2.0 stops +. The subject matter was surrounded by very bright sky and I didn't want the subject/foreground to come out too dark. It seems the film took this over exposure very well and I got the effect I wanted, and for this reason I'm not so concerned about the marks....however I was just wondering why they're so faint...
