Arista / Ilford test

I have been playing around experimenting with Arista EDU grade 2 RC paper and Ilford miltigrade RC paper for negatives.
The prints made from Arista paper on to Arista paper where some what contrasty. The prints from Arista on Ilford had a very good tonal range. I was going to try an Ilford Negative but soon saw that the image was very contrasty compaired to the Arista negative so I did'nt bother printing it. I used a 40w incodescent frosted light bulb for exposure of contact prints. It could be that the yellowish low color temperature of the bulb acted as a contrast filter.

When printing to MG paper you can use contrast filters to help with the print contrast.

You're printing on 2 types of paper. Graded paper has a fixed grade and is more sensitive to blue. Multigrade paper has emulsions that are sensitive to blue and green. The contrast grade is dependent on what color filters you use when you print.
