I've been using the Arista E-6 kits and I'm a bit disappointed by the results. I have a cyan cast to all my slides. I've been keeping the solutions at a constant 105F +/- 1F throughout the process.

I was wondering if the 105F and 6.5min specified by the instructions are accounting for cooling during the development. I know that standard E-6 is 100F and 6min.

Paul

That is correct Paul you have to add some degrees to developer temperature
in concern to lost some degree while developement.
If you not in use with a Jobo machine
(temperature controled )

with regards

Forget to say the time is not correct Paul.
You should just check it.
Sorry to say - but I didn't remember from
mind - cause of so many times in use.

3'min.15" FD ?? So you have to check it.
To temperature again - add the temps you lost while FD in a way to get an aritmetic middle.

Is your FD brand new - may be a little bit
exausted ?
Is it with all films you use? Are the films ok ?

Many posibilities - you should first fokusing what is correct to find the
failure.

Sorry Paul - it was much to late to me yesterday evening. (stronge work the whole day).
So I was telling total nonsens to you - don't be afraid to say so.
3'min 15" is C-41but we regard E6 in concerns to developer times.
6'min15" is correct to E6 , pls. check you
instruction from Arista again.
Recommandations differed a litle from kit
to kit I am personally not in use with Arista kit.
6'min"30 is also recommanded it depends to the total amound of developed films - I could imagine.
1. - 2. roll = 6'min15" / 3. - 4. roll = 6'min30" for example.
But this should stated in your Arista kit
dAta shieds - just check this please.
100 degree F is also correct (I am working with Celsius)

Hmmm. ....cyan cast?
I remember cyan casts with old Kodak
Ektachromes E100s.
That was from storage.
May be some chemicals splashes ?
Is your kid new - have you a workflow of
most painstackingly care to your equipment and chemicals?

May be some of APUG experienced chemical experts could help ?
I am personally more focused on
corrections to color casts wich are from
expired films.
And ( within limits ) there are posibilitys to correct color changes due to chemical
upset of formulas.
It is more experimental.

You - you should first have to find out what has gone wrong with your arista kit.

And sorry again - 3'min.15" :laugh::laugh:....
It seams so as I was drunk yesterday...
(We got a company anniversery celebration after work)

with best hope to your problem

Hi Trendland,

So I should develop 6min 15 sec @ 100F for the 1st Developer? I have a temperature controlled bath so I can keep a constant temperature

Hi- according to the directions, 105 degrees for the first developer is for 6.5 minutes for hand processing in a tank. Even their chart for rotary-tube processing, accounting for temperature drift and constant agitation specifies 6.5 min, which would lead me to assume the combination of those two elements cancel one another out at that temp.

I just used one of their E6 kits this weekend, and the results were wonderful, so not sure what your issue might be. Is your thermometer known good? I don't mean for that to be condescending in the slightest. Sometimes we fail to check the simple stuff, as I know I'm guilty. I've been developing film for 35 years, and for the first time in my life, mixed up fixer and developer a month ago.....ugh.
