Just wondering if we have people participating in World Toy Camera Day (5th year anniversary this year!) on Saturday 20 October (2007)... I'm too young of an apugger to remember this exchange, I've just seen this forum as quiet and dead as the toy cameras forum is sometimes

Heather,

We did try it a for a couple years, but the number of participants not honouring their commitments has made the original organizer weary of trying it again. Though, I have to say, in my case, that images I did get I enjoyed greatly.

If there is enough demand, I am willing to step to the plate to organize this. But since the day is nearly upon us, people will have up to Monday after the day to sign up.

My suggestion is this.
  • Sign up in this thread - until Monday
  • When the sign up period closes, I'll organize everyone into groups. I don't know the size the groups but lets say at the most 5 per group.
  • Participants will then send a private mail (PM) to each member of their group with their real name and address
  • You will then send a print to those members of your group only
  • Let's say everyone should send their prints by the end of November
How's that?

Oh yeah, everyone needs to have used a toy camera for their image capture and the prints have to be traditional. Lab prints are OK that were made from film scans as long as the prints are traditional - for example on Kodak or Fuji Crystal paper.

Regards, Art.

At the moment, the group looks to be 3 people...
I just thought because I'll be printing for the flickr group for hot prizes, I could print for an exchange while I'm at it.

I am willing to participate, as long as my trusty WinX camera has delivered something worthwhile. I'll know in a couple of days. For the moment, keep me signed in, I've shot many different things and I guess chances are on my side.

Welcome George! I hope you find some good images and I suspect you will. To Janet and Cath, we're in for a treat with George. I've done an exchange with him and he makes beutiful images.

I shot 5 rolls. My rolls are still in the lab and I won't be able to pick them up until next week ... so I'm anxiously waiting. It was a good day to bring out the Holga, and the Fisheye, and the Action Sampler ...

Regards, Art.

Missed it! I was platinum printing from 8pm on Friday to 9am on Saturday and the rest of Saturday was a wash -- even though if I had the camera and film handy, I would have gotten some good ones of my boys at the beach late that afternoon. Dang...

Just got the negs from the lab. Almost everything is underexposed... Some are printable, I can make some Lambda prints... If you're interested in them, let me participate... otherwise I can wait for next year...

Heather, I don't think that you are missing something... it's just that the only way to print colour in greece nowadays is using laser technology (lambda or some minilab...), except if you have your own RA-4 processor.

If you don't know what a lambda print is, I can explain... it's a print on a photographic paper made using digital technology, that is a laser image recorder connected to a computer. Most artists that want big prints use it in our days, since it facilitates large-format printing a lot... the one in the lab I work with can print up to 127cm wide and as long as you like (up to a few meters...). I haven't - yet decided to use it for artistic purposes, as I still insist that all my creative work is printed by an analog way*. I still don't know what I'll do when I'll have to print big in colour, though...

* not that the WWTCD prints are not considered "creative", it'a just that they are not meant to be exposed as a (part of a) body of work...

Yeah I thought most minilab prints were done with digital enlarger type things or something, i didn't realise they were lambda printing... I've only heard of lambda printing in reference to the new ilford B&W stuff that can be used in those printers. I don't do much lab stuff these days, partly because I keep telling myself I'm going to do RA-4 at home one day. From what I've heard from PE, you can do normal RA-4 at room temperature and it's more stable than the RA-4 room temperature kits. Just need to compensate slightly for a colour cast caused by the cooler development.

Anyway that was totally off topic  I don't expect many people to do their own colour stuff, especially if this isn't a specific colour analog work exchange.

Yeah, I was just thinking that (though I'm uberbusy this week until after next sunday. I'm sat here eating instant mac & cheese at midnight for my dinner).
Does anyone else have their prints ready besides George & me?
