Are small(er) prints salable in 2024?

I love smaller prints and tend to print my 35mm negatives as 6"x9" (on 8x10 sheets) and my 6x6 negatives as 10"x10" (on 11x14 sheets). I've been tempted to start selling some prints starting in the new year and wondered if prints this size would be salable. Most prints I see in exhibitions these days are significantly larger than this (unless they are vintage prints from past masters), and some of the group exhibitions I've been included in this year have specified a minimum print size that is larger than this, forcing me to upsize my prints.

Some photographers seem to be successful making smaller prints - a recent Michael Kenna show I attended had mostly 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" prints and he seems to be doing pretty well. But I wonder if smaller prints have mostly lost their appeal and will be a difficult sell going forward.

Potentially easier to sell, but harder to get a gallery to display.
They make great Christmas presents though .

Size matters. Images printed small work differently that images made large (one image does not necessarily, and rarely, fit all sizes).

I sell prints from 2.25" square to 11x14 (all contact prints, images are composed for no enlargement). Not all art goes over the couch.

It probably depends on the price , are they to be sold framed, and who your target customers would be. The last exhibition I had contained 7in pt/pd, 11x14 silver, 16x20 silver and 5ft and 6ft digital all framed, My sale was to a well known art critic. It was a 16x20 silver. I had a few sold by a dealer that were digital and on 17x22 cotton paper. Previous sales were all 16x20 silver all at gallery exhibitions. My daughter and son-in-law have collected art including photography and have only gone for larger pieces and the ones of mine were enlarged to 30 - 40 inches.

You have to stop up to see it. You can’t just claim that you saw it in passing.
