Are DWA, DXK, FAD, or FAY lamps still available?

The main light I have been using is an old Smith-Victor L5 flood light my dad had lying around. The same one as here. The bulb on it blew the same day as my light meter incident and I'm not sure if they are still available. On the back it says, "For 3400K indoor color film use DWA or DXK lamp, for daylight colour film use FAD or FAY lamp."

The bulb has no screw base but two connector prongs on the back and attaches with a sort of retaining ring dealybob. Any ideas or does it just make a nice ornament now?

I seem to have answered my own question after some heavy googling. It seems that most of those lamps are discontinued or hard to find, but replacementlightbulbs.com has some. The price is kinda steep, $33-50 for a single bulb rated at 30 hours! I can understand the life, the metal around the bulb gets hot enough to fry and egg on. I did a shot with a pear and it turned the pear's skin closest to it brown! Any other places which might carry these for lower prices?

Justin,

Try Microlites Scientific in Toronto. The most knowledgeable people I have come across. If they don't have it they can make it. Maybe they can offer a good substitute as well.

FCX globes are used for motion picture use and readily available. Try any lighting rental house as they will sell you replacements. They should have the daylight version FAY's too. I think William F. White still has a shop in B.C.

Thanks guys, I'll check out those places. Any idea what this type of bulb is called? It's got two prongs and sort of looks like an old car headlamp. Apparently the same letter designations apply to bulbs which mount differently.
